I remember answering the very same question just a few days ago.
Anyway, all you need to do is redirect to the details page from the client and not the server. If you do so your search results will be intact when you traverse back via history.back to the search page.

When you use Response.Redirect from an event handler in the code behind it is called Server redirection. When you use links or window.location from the HTML then it is called Client redirection.
It is not straight forward to change server redirect to client redirect as it might involve a good amount of behavioral changes, but in most cases it would be a simple code change. The crux here is that you would have to generate the redirect URL, the one you use in the Response.Redirect on the server event on the button click, when you generate the search result and make it available as a HTML hyperlink for the user to click and navigate.

Dont ever use history.back crap from your web site. Rather always go for an AJAX call, or full postback for your back button.
I always like to disable that back button in the browser. It is very old concept to maintain the history.

You can cache your all search page details into a cache and repopulate the search page when you come back from cache...

suppose when user click on link or button for downloading file in asp.net then download start. so i just want to know how to detect that the file as been downloaded in client machine. is it possible to track from server side code. because i want to develop a file download section from where user at a time can download only single file. so in this case when file download start i will just capture client ip and store it in session and when file download will be over then i will clear that session and in this way my purpose will be solved and restric user to downlolad multiple file. so please me with sample code and idea.

i am working with google chart and it is good and giving me the output but the problem is in case of barchart my label is getting verlap because my label text is lengthy. i hard that label text orientation can be change and i read google chart doc but not found any sample code from there for rotation of my label. so if anyone knows what i need to write to rotate label in case google bar chart please share the knowledge.

Dear All,
I am using Asp.Net with C# in windows application (VS 2005). I create one test.bat file, which is executed by my application. I am using "System.Diagnostics.Process.Start" to execute test.bat. How can I get the result, that the bat file has been executed and closed.
Because, test.bat file is taking few seconds to run and it creates a table with data and gets closed. My application is gets the data from the table, which is done by test.bat and proceed further. I can have good result, if I debug the application. I can not have a good result at run mode.
I want to proceed my application, after executed the test.bat file. How can I identify that test.bat file has been executed fully?. What I need to do?. I have to handle threading? Is there any other way? Thanks in adv.

Hi,
the Process-class itself contains a method WaitForExit. Using this method the calling application will wait for the process to be finished. To get the output of your process you can redirect the stream by utilizing the StandardOutput-property.

Hello everyone,
Basically my task is sorting the gridview manually and I got many solutions for that. But all of them are having the following thing in common.
DataView dv = new DataView(dt);
dv.Sort = sortExpression + direction;
But in my code, I have to bind an IList (collection or generics), and not any dataset, to my gridview. Somehow,I am not able to find the Sort property for an IList.
Could anyone please suggest what can I do about this?Do I have to convert the IList to a daraset?if yes,please tell how?
