VS2008 does not require IIS.
It is difficult to answer a question when so little information has been provided. I know the language. I've read a book. - _Madmatt

For Compile ASP.net Page In VS2008 does not need IIS?
|
|
|
|

Compiling has nothing to do with IIS. VS2008 can host web applications from the file system using the development web server that is ships with. I know the language. I've read a book. - _Madmatt

Install it, nothing more. You are clearly out of your league here. I know the language. I've read a book. - _Madmatt

Only VS 2003 required IIS, later versions no longer requires it.
Maybe it's just your web application that doesn't compile or run properly?Rafferty

I am creating a sample application to access multiple DB (ORACLE, SQLSEVER and EXCEL).
With best of my knowledge i have below two approaches:
1. TO use OLEDB.
Define multiple connection strings in Web.config.
Based on the DBType argument in OpenConnection method, decide which ConnectionString to use.
2. Have two seperate classes, one for OracleClient and one for SQlClient.
Define a factory class (Factory Pattern) and based on the DBType argument value decide which class to use.
I am not certain if there exists any other approach.
And more importantly which approach will be the best.
Please help me to sort out this.
Thanks in advance.

I have to develop a website on which users can post question and the members can answer the question. Please guide me. How should i proceed ?

actually, i want yahoo answers sort of thing or Quick answers section of this website.
MS access will be good for it or should i go for SQL server.

I would recommend to use Sql Server. MS Access is better if you are distributing your database to some clients with nominal data storage for your windows application.
For websites, always Sql Server is preferable. It is capable to handle large number of concurrency and also lesser probability of data corruption.

Hi.
I programmed a FileUpload which is already working fine.
But, there is a problem.
I'd like to allow all formats of files , for example, jpg, mpeg, mp3, zip,
exe., but ".exe file format" can't be uploaded.
When I upload a file with .exe format, it shows an error page.
How can I allow all formats containing .exe??
Ah, Actually the .exe format file is an install file.
Thank you.

Tell me what error page ur getting.
AFAIK, file upload should allow exe to be uploaded. Might be some config settings are blocking in your server to upload exes.
