live search in my own project...
thanks for Quick reply

ok, let me assume that your project is related the shopping cart and you want to search on following criteria.
1. Product Name
2. Product Feature
3. Product SKU
4. Product Description
5. Product Price Range
6. On any other field specific to your project.
You can do something like below
1. Create a page which accept the input from customer in appropriate control
2. Collect all that input and pass it to the database(I assume SQL)
3. Create a stored procedure(SP) in the SQL which accept all the above collected input and pass it to the SP
4. In SP, you can SELECT the necessary fields from the table(s) and in the WHERE condition apply the filtering based on the passed parameter collected from the customer
5. Below is the example with one parameter.
SELECT ProductId, ProductName, ProductDescription, ProductSKU, ProductPrice FROM Product WHERE ProductName LIKE '%@ProductName%'
Here @ProductName is the search term collected from the customer.
Hope it helps.

well ! you dont understand my question.First i clarify it...
my project is online library, i want to give suggestions when user type text for search in textbox... As in google or yahoo website , suggestions have been given when we type text for search, this is called live search...
|
|
|
|
|
What you are telling is auto complete text in the search box.
You can use AJAX autocomplete extender for that.

Why didn't you give this information in the first place, or when you were asked for clarification? That way, you wouldn't have wasted anyones time, and it's called autocomplete not live search.

No, it isn't, as you have been told. If you want argue rather than listen that's up to you but it won't endear you to the people who are trying to help you and will limited the help you get in the future.

I want to know how I can Share articles to social network like facebook , twitter ?
|
|
|
|

You have not specified from where you want to share the articles to any social network. I assume that you need to share it from your website.
For that you need to place any social media share tool. There are several ready tools are available. Also you can customize your own also.

Do you mean you want to implement that functionality, or you want to use it on Code Project? On Code Project articles, there is an icon to the right of the printer icon that allows you to share an article on various social media sites.

Do you mean by posting links, or by offering downloads?

Good Day All
I have an asp.net project that does the CC handling for me and if the cc comes from a certain application it redirects to the page in a certain application. In that Project there is a page named “Buycredit”
That contains a Page_load that has this
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
handleResponse();
}
And the handleresponse Method is defined like this
private void handleResponse()
{
DataAccess dataAccess = new DataAccess();
VCSResponse creditResponse = populateVCSObject();
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(creditResponse.Misc))
{
string forwardAddy = string.Concat("http://111.111.11.118/Ecash/Ecashpos/PurchaseCredit.aspx?", Request.QueryString.ToString());
Response.Redirect(forwardAddy,false);
}
else
{
dataAccess.insertReponsevalue(creditResponse);
if (responseApproved(creditResponse.P3_AuthReponse))
{
dataAccess.insertPurchaseRecord((User)Session["UserDetail_Connector"], creditResponse);
Emailer.sendCreditPurchaseMail("noreply@noreply.co.za", ((User)Session["UserDetail_Connector"]).Email, (User)Session["UserDetail_Connector"], creditResponse);
divNotify.Visible = true;
txtPromptMsg_Prompt.Text = "Credits were successfully purchased.";
}
else
{
divNotify.Visible = true;
txtPromptMsg_Prompt.Text = "Credits were not successfully purchased!";
}
}
}
Now the page “PurchaseCredit.aspx” is the page in the Silverlight Project. On Debug mode, I can step through this project and it will finish and redirect to the “PurchaseCredit.aspx” in that IP and it will work fine, but when I publish it to IIS, the Page URL I get is different I get this URL
http:
as you can see it is not going to the Page that has been set but its poiting page to the “BuyCredit”
What could be the problem here ?
thanks

Hello,
I'm planning to build a tourguide search website, i looked around and found the api of google "GMAP".
What i need to do is a form where you can fill some fields (city, availablity dates and other things) and it should show you available registered tour guides in the map where you can click on some icon and it shows you a small window of the available tour guide profile.
Something like that: http://tourguides.viator.com/Map.aspx
Any ideas? i would appreciate any help.
thank you

This shows you how to hook up an auto-complete textbox to get location results from Google. Based on the user's selection, it will show an alert dialog with the latitude and longitude of that location.
The next part is to use the Google map API (I link to it in the above message) to insert a map and then navigate to that latitude/longitude. Store your tour guides in a database by the latitude/longitude and you can do a search to find nearby tour guides. The Google map API allows you to create custom icons that you can drop at those locations.
The Google Map API also allows you to create click events for those icons. You can use that to pop up custom info windows for each icon when they are clicked. Those info windows would show information about the tour guides.
As a final implementation note, I recently did this and I got the tour guide info (though I wasn't actually working with tour guides, the same principles apply) from a web service using AJAX. That allows the user to search and get results without any postbacks.

Hi,
I have no idea about flash but i am developing an ASP.NET which should have a media player similar to the one in YouTube to play existing videos from physical files and to display presentations so exactly just like YouTube.

There are lots of them around. Here's one[^], and another[^] (I've used the wimpy wasp one in an ASP.NET site and it works fine - easy to setup).
How about this[^] one? It delivers HTML 5 video and downgrades to flash if that's not supported. Looks like it's worth a try.
Cheers,
Drew.
