When working with a C#asp.net 2010 web forms, I am wondering if you can take the 'buttons' out of a control and place them somewhere else on the webform and still have them work? I would want those buttons to still refer to the asp.net control that they were originally associated with? I am referring to buttons like insert, delete, and update. In particular I am asking that question about the listview, formview, or detailview control? If this is possible, I am wondering if you can tell how how to accomplish this task and/or point me to a url that I can use as a reference to complete this task?
In addition when working with the buttons within the web form application and preferably not within the asp.net control, can I perform other programming that needs to occur? If so, can you tell point how this would be accomplished? Would I need to put the code in a certain method like a page_load,pre_init, a certain click event?

if i understand, you want to preform update, insert, delete functions from other location rather than inside common asp.net grid controls like ListView, FormView, DetailsView...
it can be done easily. you just need to call function you want to preform for target control. this is example how to call Update function for FormView outside of FormView
<asp:FormView runat="server" ID="fv" DefaultMode="Edit" DataKeyNames="id" OnItemUpdating="fv_ItemUpdating">
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="tb" Text='<%#Bind("name") %>' />
<asp:Button runat="server" ID="btn" Text="Edit Inside" CommandName="Update" />
</EditItemTemplate>
</asp:FormView>
<asp:Button runat="server" ID="btn" Text="Edit Outside" OnClick="EditOutside" />
public System.Data.DataTable SomeData()
{
System.Data.DataTable temp = new System.Data.DataTable();
temp.Columns.Add("id");
temp.Columns.Add("name");
System.Data.DataRow dr = temp.NewRow();
dr["id"] = 1;
dr["name"] = "somebody";
temp.Rows.Add(dr);
dr = temp.NewRow();
dr["id"] = 2;
dr["name"] = "someone";
temp.Rows.Add(dr);
return temp;
}
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
fv.DataSource = SomeData();
fv.DataBind();
}
}
public void fv_ItemUpdating(object sender, FormViewUpdateEventArgs e)
{
string txtValue = (fv.FindControl("tb") as TextBox).Text;
}
public void EditOutside(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
fv.UpdateItem(false);
}

I am actually generating barcodes.
Now each cell have some information related with a product along with it's barcode generated at runtime.
Now please tell me how can I place this barcode image at a specific position in a cell using coordinates & coding in c#.
I am using asp.net 3.5
|
|
|
|
|
well, you dont need to use coordinates in asp .net. All u have to do is save those dynamically generated images of barcodes (with probably the ID of the product or something to uniquely identify them) and then use the ASP image control to assign the URL to it. Hope that answers the question.
Good luck

Using Chrome I can see that this data is held in a table, so you need to use the DOM tree to get to the table and extract the individual items. You could also check if the website makes this data available as pure XML.

I think the data is loaded in browser memory on purpose so you can't scrape the data and parse it.
They must have a subscription service that your client can pay to subscribe to. Data is money, there not giving it away.

How can i do that?

Since I am new to working with C#.asp.net 2010 webforms, I would like suggestions on using a formview control versus a listview control or possibly an asp.net table control.
For the the page I am working with, only one row will be disaplyed at a time while the user either inserts or updates data for that row. I am suppose to have three columns which are: the column name, column value and column description. I also want to
display the various columns by categories.
I know I could accomplish my goal with an asp.net table control, but I do not believe this is the best solution. I only want to use this soltuion if nothing else works.
So far I have used a formview control since it is setup for only one row at a time and it is more customizable than a detailview
control is. What I would to do is setup my three columns that are 'grid' style. I know the detailview is grid style, but you can
not do any extra formatting.
Thus can you tell me with the formview control, can I add an extra column (for the static description of the columns) and make
the column name and column values look more like a grid. If so, how would you accomplish this goal?
I would also like to add a few separator rows that would indicate what category the group of columns are setup for. Can a
formview control meet this requirement? If so, can you point me a reference that i can use to see how to accomplish this task?
If the formview control does not work, can you point me to references where a listview control would meet my requirements?

|
|
|
|
I'm not sure I fully understand the requirement but I think looking at using DetailsView with a TemplateField Should solve your problem coz you can do a lot of formatting in it.
This might elaborate on that a bit.

If you really expect a sensible answer then please think about your problem and explain it in more than a few vague phrases. People who answer questions here are, for the most part, not mind readers.

Hello,
I want to create a link (a href) that will open an excel file on the second spredsheet.
I found somethings like:
http://server/app/myFile.xls#sheet2!A1
but it doesn't work
If there isn't any way for that - Is there a way to programmaticlly
get an excel file and save it in a new file with only the second spreed sheet?
I'm using asp.net with c# (fw 3.5).
Thanks.

You need to set all sheets as visible = false except for the one you want to see.
<script language=vbscript>
Dim objExcel
Sub chartsheet_onclick()
call OpenWorkbook("c:\test\myFile.xls")
End Sub
Sub OpenWorkbook(strLocation)
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
objExcel.Visible = true
objExcel.Workbooks.Open strLocation
objExcel.UserControl = true
objExcel.Sheets("sheet1").Visible = False
objExcel.Sheets("sheet2").Visible = True
objExcel.Sheets("sheet3").Visible = False
End Sub
</script>
