You should use divs and stylesheets for web application page layout. Only use tables if you are wanting to display tabular data.
Panels are useful for example if you want to hide/unhide a number of controls. Easy to do if controls are on a single panel, just set panels visible property to true or false.
Take a look at http://asp.net/learn/videos/video-188.aspx for free video on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). This gives an example of how to use divs and a stylesheet to layout a webpage in asp.net.

Me: Can you see the "up" arrow?
User:Errr...ummm....no.
Me: Can you see an arrow that points upwards?
User: Oh yes, I see it now!

I had created a folder for every session in the web browser to store temporary files. The folder is created after successful login. On the session end event the folder is deleted . On click of the logout button the session is abandoned.
If the user logs out properly then the folder is deleted but if he just closes the browser the folder remains thus cluttering the web server.
Can u tell me how the session end can be fired if the user just closes the browser

You will get 1000's of questions on the same issue if you do a search on this forum.
No events are fired on server when a browser is closed. But your session_end will be called when session times out. Means it will be deleted even though your browser is closed, but not immediately. It will be present still the session gets timed out.
If you want to delete the folder immediately, call some JS function when browser is closed, from that function do a AJAX call to the server and delete the folder.

no i think you can't do it as the browser is at client side and tere is not a single event that will inform the server that browser is closed
Do one thing set a time for session time out
after it you can delete the content

Yes, When i saw the question first, I was expecting you to forward this link. I tried that method, but I am not at all satisfied. What about you ? session_end works correctly to me in inproc mode.

I greet you all.
Would you please help me.
I am writing a web application in ASP.Net 2.0 that have to populate a TreeView with our Intranet's pages and their links. The homepage will be the Root and all the pages that the home links to will be Child nodes.
Each TreeNode should have a DropDownList next to it, with 3 options (Update,Delete, Add New).
So I just need your assistance on how to put a DropDownList next to a TreeNode, and how to get whatever is selected from the DropDownList.
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I've build a prototype custom grid using rows of TextBox controls, but it's quite slow. Now if I use a DataGridView, with all my columns as textbox columns, I imagine all the cells are textboxes as well, and
that grid has huge amounts more functionality than mine. So, I believe I can greatly improve the speed of my grid, still using the textbox approach, but I haven't a clue how. Some advice would be great.
A question that keeps cropping up in my thoughts is, do I continue delegating the drawing of borders to the individual textboxes, or do I draw the grid independently, and place borderless textboxes in the cells.
Is there even much of a difference?

Scripts like ASP.NET are not intended for long processing jobs. So sending 1 lakh mail using this is not at all recommended. Use some mass mailer programs, or use a threaded windows application for this.
