A little code might help but I would suggest ensuring that your namespaces are the same. Seems you are trying to reference a namespace named 'Microsoft'.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do. But the compiler doesn't like it.

Here's the XAML from the start page template:

I refererenced the same assemblies, and copied the namespace XAML from the other project. So it should compile.

I figured it out.

For some crazy ass reason my project was set to compile to 4.0 Client Profile.

This is driving me nuts guys. I'm displaying a grid with column and row layout information. Basically it's my data entry screen. Since I'm using a one window app I hide the grid or collapse it and make it visible when the user selects the data entry option. I have set focus to the first field or Text box in the grid, but if you try to click another Text box nothing happens it's almost like the entire grid is disabled and I can't click anything in it.

So long as I have the first Text box selected I can tab through all the rest but I cannot click select a Text box. Anyone please give me some ideas I've been fighting this for weeks now. I have made sure the Grid, and Text boxes are focus-able.

Doesn't compile for one thing. Nobody is going to hand look through 2000 lines of Xaml or try to get it to compile. Too many unresolved styles and references and namespaces. If you want someone to help you with something like this, I'd suggest posting a SMALL & COMPILEABLE project Smile | :)

I didn't expect it to compile, I simply wanted you to see how I was setting up my XAML. I have one master Grid. One main grid showing general content. One Grid displays Contact information from my database, and the other Package information from my database. I collapse the main grid to make the other grids visible when I need them. I'm suspecting this is part of the reason I cannot click on the visible grid. If you have a suggestion on another technique to do the same thing I'm all ears.

I'm not sure why you've taken this approach. Rather than do this, why don't you use the editable collection functionality that's built in? The good Dr WPF has a detailed explanation here[^], and I wrote code you can reuse here[^].

I thought about doing it your way but I'm already populating a Data Table and felt it might be even more confusing adding a collection when i can populate with data from the table directly.

So its something like the MS Word options dialog? Where you have some form of navigation on the left and the content on the right? I'd probably do a similiar thing... have each page on a grid that can be collapsed when its not visible. Like I said though, you have too much xaml there for anybody to make heads & tails of it. What you might want to do is repro it in a small app, just have the grids and maybe a button in each sub grid and make sure you can click on the buttons when the grid is visibile. Thats really all I can think of without a compilable app to debug Smile | :)

I use ActiPro Ribbon too... haven't had any problems with it. They are probably the most feature complete ribbon out there IMHO and they are really quick on support.

Hi All,

As the title says really, when in PRISM are each of the modules in the module catalog registered with the container (in my case Castle). And can I override it?

Basically the problem I have is that when doing this for example:

this.ModuleCatalog.AddModule(AvailableApplicationModules.SampleModule);

At some point that module is then registered with the container. Now in castle atleast when doing this if no Name is specified (which it isn't) then the default AssemblyQualifiedName of the implementation is used. This includes the version number and is causing problems on the build server when it will always be dynamic. So my plan is the set the .Name property when the module is registered with the container so that I can retrieve the module by using:

this.windsorContainer.Resolve<object>(string Key)

But I can't find the part were the modules are registered with the container. I'm presuming that PRISM itself takes care of this so I guess I need to override something.

Prism is open source. So you can probably look at the source code itself to get a better idea.

You can use the IModuleCatalog interface if you want to implement something on your own.

What do you want to do with it? Normally, I create my data and store it in a collection which I assign to the ItemsSource through binding. If I need to manipulate the data, I work on the original data and not on the DataGrid.

Hi All,

I recently started working on a new project. One of my first tasks was to make the modules load dynamically. Basically the client would download the shell xap then when they required another module this modules xap file would be downloaded. Doing this doesn't force the user to download one massive xap file and therefore improve performance. I have this working without too much trouble however the problem I have is that once on the client I have no reference to the xap file that I have downloaded unless I hard code something. So at the moment I have solved this by creating an AvailableApplicationModule.shared.cs file which contains a list of all dynamic modules in the solution, then in the bootstrapper these are loaded into the module catalog. E.g.

The GetModuleTypeForModule will return the Fully qualified name like:

Then in the client tier I can access the module catalog get the typename and then create an instance of this ModuleType which will then initialise itself. Unfortunatly by doing this I have to specify a build version.

Now this is fine on a local machine as I can just override the build targets to force the version to 1.1.0.0 however once I commit this to TFS the actual build number will be used. Since I have to construct this fully qualified name in code it'll break as instead of getting 1.1.0.0 it'll be something like 1.0.15.1345. Which it won't be able to find as I need to specify the version number in code.

I guess this is a common problem so I'm just looking for some adivce on how you guys handle this?

Not sure if this is relevant but I'm using PRISM and Castle as the container.

Im writing an application which will be a host for different plug in DLL's.

I think im want to use the MAF model.

My application will have some set of asynchronous events.
I want the different plug in DLL's will have the option to "sign" on some of thoose events(maybe none) and execute some calback function when the event fires.

So far i already know that the API's that the plug in will implement are defined in abstract class that derives from IContract.

But what is the way to define the events,events handlers and some costum variables that have to be serializable.

Rather than using MAF, you might want to take a look at using MEF. This is a much simpler beast to use altogether, and is really cool to develop against.
