Hell Yeah brother! Lets light the burning torches, sharpen the pitchforks, and march on the infrastructure guys and reclaim our admin rights!

Why?...Need I really explain - but here's a typical conversation between an applications developer and an infrastructure guy:

"Please can I have a new user group set up to use in this new app? It'll save us both time in the long run"

"Raise a ticket"

"But you take weeks responding to tickets and then you do it wrong twice before getting it right and then I'll have forgotten the context of all of this and it'll take a day of reading back over notes to see why I wanted it in the first place. Oh and my ticket will have breached because Finance are waiting for their app or it will be un-secure because that intern they had has moved onto marketing but still has access because we are controlling things at user level...."

"Raise a ticket"

"Look I can create the user group myself if I had rights to log in as admin anymore, it will take 5 minutes at most, if I raise a ticket that will take me 20 minutes to do, 20 minutes for you to process and 5 minutes to actually do the work. Even if you do it right away."

"Raise a ticket"

"You could have done it by this time if you had actually done it"

"Raise a ticket"

"Look I'll even credit your work in our change request register, you will have an audit trail for it"

"Raise a ticket"

"You could even spin off a function in the ticketing system to create service request ticket for you on the back of us creating a task against the change request...that'll work really well...and be kinda fun..."

"Raise a ticket"

"ok"
