Thanks for your advices, I will think about it seriously.
I'm 30 years old, currently I am working for a private company and I am developing (all by myself) a factory management software (orders, production, quality, packaging, delivery) with no help from anyone and for a salary that makes me barely pay the bills.
There is no better job opportunity for the future in my area, and the situation here in Italy is going every day worse..
Damn, I think I could handle a little bit of english!
All my respect to you because you have made a great choice.
Thanks again for the advice.
Regards, Daniele.

I came here as a contractor for 6 months and last year I celebrated 25 years. They even gave me a watch with my name engraved, I kid you not.
Anyway, I stayed and stay because of various reasons:
Brilliant canteen
Good pay
Good working conditions
Fun job mostly
Nice colleagues
But most of all:
I don't suppose I would be better off anywhere else...

Are you still on contract after 25 years?
I thought I was bad enough 8 years into a 3 month contract and still a contractor!

No, no, after two years they changed the law and long term contractors had to leave or become employees. We still have long-term contractors but they work for contracting companies and are not self-employed, so they don't earn more than the rest of us.
Anyway, it's nice here, so I decided to stay. I think the spousal unit had something to do with that too...

I hope to start working again soon, alas the market at my level is rather depressed. How depressed? Woody Alan has told it to cheer up.

I'd love to, but it is very difficult. Above the level I was at requires a lot more experience than I have and there is even less opportunities. Going back to development is a no-go. Employers won't touch me because, rightly, they'll see me as just taking whatever I can find before moving back to a management job as soon as I can.

I had to read twice before voting.
I think so, I don't think so, May be, Who knows (seriously???)... are not useful poll options. Why gather feedback that doesn't matter?

The author is probably French (why keep it simple if you can complicate it)
imo a simple yes/no would be enough

May be, may be not (by the way, I am French)
A yes/no answer can only be done if you are pretty convinced of what WILL happen.
But a lot of people might want to change job, but think it is not too likely they will actually have the opportunity/success in doing so.
Others might think they will stay where they are, but will consider opportunities (hence the "who knows" that fits well for them).
And some are pretty sure (as much as possible in this changing world) of what will (or will not) happen. They could do with yes/no.
Why keep it simple if you can complicate it ? Complicated is rarely better for a solution, but can be better for a question to consider different angles of the problem. And then you can refine the questions if need be.
In any case, it can be interesting and relevant to have the nuance of opinion. Or not, depending on what you are looking for.

And I always thought that Elrond was half an Elf. On second thought... they never said what the other half was.

It is well known that the second part is human. Just not advertised where from ?

Already went through retrenchment so I'm secure for atleast another year
Big up for the guy who compiled this weeks survey for making such a thorough list of options to select from!
