Surely you jest? Most of the twits on this site can't see the forest for the trees - they think the smartphone market is driven by hardware specs alone.

Personally i think i phone is not as innovative and glamorous as it pretends to be.
It the marketing and belief of people who think owning an iphone is style statement.
Windows Phone seems much better than iphone anyways.
i am Eagery waiting for Microsoft Surface pro as well

Well said.
BTW, it is "eagerly waiting" not "Eagery".

it's odd how so many Apple-haters are capable of reading the minds of people they have never met.

I have a HTC Titan now (HTC Ultimate, in Brazil) and I'm only switching it to another phone with WP8, hopefully Nokia. Also, some day I'll buy a Windows 8 tablet to get most out of WP8.
As a user, I love WP OS. As developer I love C#, and I'm not buying an ultra-expensive Mac just to develop for a platform. I find iPhone very nice, but Objective-C language is unpleasant to my eyes.
There's no free lunch. Let's wait for the dinner.
Take a look at Social News here in The Code Project.

Agree with everything you said - Obj-C sucks, Apple is overpriced, however they were able to create a market that MS just trying to penetrate with Win8. Money talk and I would not ignore iOS. With any luck may be we can cover both

Yep.. Obective-C is ugly code. Windows Phone 8 is best choice

Same here, I have a Titan love Windows Phone. I'd like to get a WP8 but I've not even had this phone a year yet. I wish WP8 was available as an upgrade from 7.5.

Agree that Objective-C looks so very unpleasant!

It makes calls, browses the inter-web thingy, checks email, has SMS and I can keep a few notes and dates on it with contacts, etc. It also has a decent camera and can record, store and play videos and things - although I don't use it for that. I also read books on it - I have 20 or 30 loaded from my collection at any given time and it has a really efficient interface. The battery lasts a long time and the back light works fine.
It has a keyboard (with real buttons) and a very good screen. I got it a year ago after I accidentally broke my previous Blackberry (two+ years old) - which did exactly the same and looked almost exactly the same. I am quite happy with what I have and I won't bother changing it unless it breaks or AT&T goes down - even then I can switch out the sim card to a new provider. What more do I need - I don't use half of what it can do. I don't need a million, or however many, "apps" - all the ones I have were free and came with the phone or were freely downloaded (Google maps - which is excellent and MobiPocket Reader for the books) - I have DropBox but I am going to dump that as I don't need it on my phone.
Oh, it also works with Tether to give me a wireless modem for my home PC (I used that when my cable went down for few days). It just works.
I defy anyone to convince me that any iPhone is worth the effort, never mind the money! BTW. I dislike touch-screens on phones, they get dirty and unresponsive and I don't want to do things just because I put the phone in my pocket, sit down or stand up. My friend constantly calls me on fast-dial because of that!

Couldn't agree more.
I had a series 2 ipod - it was the single least-satisfying electronics item I ever had the displeasure of owning. It was $800 yet sounded worse than my Sony walkmans of the early to mid nineties. (which I spent no more than $315ea on)
I've been similarly unimpressed by the specs vs price on all of their computing gear before and since. I just don't get it, really I don't.
As for the photos, absolutely no comparison. Your photos look like 'normal' photos, the one your friend took looks like all of those horrible iPhone videos - grainy, poorly exposed, awful colour balance and fidelity.
But then again, I guess popular culture never was particularly brilliant - just popular.

Thought I recognised you! Lovely to see another fellow RCer hanging out here. If I ever see Chellie here I'll just about die from shock!

Not getting an iPhone as I'm looking forward to a Windows Phone 8.

I used to think that phones were only to place calls and be done. Now that the enterprise has given us Windows Phone 7.5 Nokias, gotta say my life has changed. I will never in the foreseeable future use any phone without Windows Phone.

Windows Phone is the only OS well suited for my clumsy fingers. With iOS or Android I keep missing the icons
I like the iPhone hardware, though. If I could install Windows OS there I might switch. Until then, it is Nokia Lumia for me.

Good point. After using my WP7 for 2 years now, I struggle whenever I have to use an iPhone.
