My resolution: Try to improve the atmosphere in the Lounge[^] by example.
CP has lost a number of long-time participants in the last year or so. A lot of that has been due to poor behavior by other members, some of them also long-term folks. I think that's a shame. Chris has always resisted turning CP into a police state, run by a group of autocratic moderators. Unfortunately that may be his only choice left, given the current trend.
I think the best tool I have available is to be a good example:
If I like a post, I'll reply and say so. If I disagree with a post, I'll reply and say so, civilly.
I'm going to stop using the rating system on forum posts. Frankly, 1-voting has come to be just like walking up behind someone and whacking them with a stick.
I've started looking at questions in the Q&A. I've even answered a couple. I'm not going to answer or edit a question unless I can say something productive to help the person along the way. I'll even try to be helpful for a 'gimme codez' question, if I can figure out a way to do it without just giving them the answer.
The Code Project has been my online home for a long time. I don't like it that folks I think of as friends don't come around any longer. I'm going to do my part to clean up the neighborhood.

Actually this was my last year resolution...
If the Lord God Almighty had consulted me before embarking upon the Creation, I would have recommended something simpler.

This is going on my arrogant assumptions. You may have a superb reason why I'm completely wrong.

Dun worry! You will eventually write your LUA article! In fact, all my articles are written after many years of inertia! That's why I never write about new technologies: Any new technologies will become old technologies after 2 - 3 years.

The obvious solution to this... is to write about technologies that do not exist yet!

What has that got to do with becoming a better coder?

Well,
Studying design patterns allows you to impress all of your co-workers with the latest buzz words. Surely there is at least one guy in your office with a hardcover copy of GOF?

I do have that book.

Remember to catch a stack overflow exception (you don't want this, it's like loomiting [loop+vomit]).

Seens like you need a new job to stay healthy hehehe
I used to get a lot of health problems 'cause I used to put my job prior of other important things, like sleep well, be with friends, or have a girlfriend.
Now I don't earn so well, but I can do almost all the things that I want and it's very important to me.

Same as last year, learn new stuff and make more money. Actually last years was "get 2 Microsoft certificates and finish my master" and I only did the latter, but I did learn about SOLID and design patterns and lots of other stuff and it got me quite a few raises
Another achievement which I didn't plan, I lost about 10 kilo's
So I'm just sticking to that.
It's an OO world.
public class Naerling : Lazy<Person>{
public void DoWork(){ throw new NotImplementedException(); }
}
|
|
|
|
|
Knowledge is an endless entity n earning money is endless satisfication.
who don't want money. everyone want's it. (cause world looks at you interms of it)
better we accept words "Earn while learn"
This year i want Learn new design patterns, techniques or methodolgies: Become a better coder with earning lot money
Rating always..... WELCOME
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Exactly what I was thinking! Earn while learn is pretty catchy too!
