Hi to All
I am trying to make an set up project in VB.net 2005. I have no idea about Set up and deployment.
Could anyone please tell me the important and necessary basic steps/settings to be made in Set Up and deployment project, in order to deploy a project.
Two important things I want to discuss that.
1. I have Crystal Reports
2. I included 2 COM components
So what are the settings to be made for the same.Please help

I Wanted to know after addidng these components (VLC player and WMP), is it necessary that the installed system should install the players, or not necessary

I think, you can copy the COM component reference in Debug/Release folder of your project directory and after that when you create setup, include this references.

sorry to ask u basics....Actually wht do we mean by adding references in the project?..How does this helps...

when you add COM component, a references is added to your application. Navigate Menu Project--->Properties --->References Tab
This tab show all the references which is used by your application.Select appropriate COM COmponent Refrences and then from Properties choose 'Copy Local' to TRUE

one more thing i wanted to confirm is what is copy to local means? It copies the dll to application or what?
And I can see the option "imported namespaces" too with so many checkboxes down... What am I supposed to do that for deploying purpose?

copy the referenced dll to debug/Release folder.

What is the application.startpath exactly is? and where to copy the files if i want to run them on the remote system(installed computer)

application.startpath return the path of the EXE
|

I have copied all the crystal report in the debug folder. and i have given application.startpath in code to view the reports...is that all fine?...Also please tell me to deploy the crystal report what do i have to do?....Some1 told me to add merger module....but how exactly?

Hi All
I need help on Imagelist
Is the ImageList.Image restricted to 32 images?
I had a imagelist with 36 images,
In my code I put
button.imageindex = 36
it always display index 31 image.
Can we put 2 Imagelist (different name) on a single form
I had 2 buttons on the form, each pointing to different image list
it does display correct image in the editor, but when I run it
both displaying the same image from one of the imagelist
I do not have any code for the button
I am using Vb.Net 2005 .net2.0 framework

AFAIK, there is no limit to the number of images you can have in an ImageList, short of available memory.
Yes, you can have multiple ImageLists on your form and each control using a different list. I can't reproduce the problem you're having. I would probably check the designer generated code. But, at this point, I'd probably say delete the controls that are having the problem, then recreate them.
