But yes... you are right, it needs a cleanup

At the time I posted, there was one that I could see.

Then there is need on a second cleanup...
because the survey is again full of closed messages, and there are more legit comments.

Maybe someone else cleaned up before? There were more than 30 when I first posted.
Right now there are around 10 more...

I've been keeping an eye on this as well, and cleaning up occassionally.

Hi,
The GDPR[^] intruduces "data ownership" and accountability laws across Europe. In the U.S. we have CDPA and some recent inititives[^] dealing with oversight of personal data.
Here on codeproject when a moderator edits a post to either add or subtract information the message becomes marked as 'modified N mins ago' without displaying that the information has been modified by a moderator. By modifying the information the moderator has become a shared owner and this needs to be clearly displayed.
Thanks.
Best Wishes,
-David Delaune

[Edit]
Sorry, I forgot to explain my concerns
Basically the above is no problem. Whether I press the delete button or put the delete link in the address bar is the same.
But with the link it is currently possible to delete a post which is 'in moderation', which is not possible by GUI. And this gives a spammer the opportunity to 'measure' the spam filter without being noticeable.

Thanks for that. We recently fixed a related issue to this. Looks like it needs another kick.

About 12 useless lines of text ...

You might not like it... I respect it. But a bit of humor is never useless.
And if someone had to tell me something about my joke, that should have been the one who was addressed to (A.k.a. Chris)

Strange and new, at least for me:
Deleted a thread with answers is possible? Bugs and Suggestions[^]
And no, not with a prepared URI, simply by UI...
and also in b&s it is now possible to 'delete' a thread by UI

Everyone can remove the content of an owned message, either editing and removing the text manually, or with the delete option (as you just did).
The difference is, if the message has answers, then the deleted message gets "message closed" but it remains in the thread because it has answers.
If it has no answers, then the message is removed from the thread and you see it no more.
And I would say, it has been like that for a long time.

You are right. But in the Lounge I think, it is not possible to delete the Top Message in case there are Sub Messages.
|
|
|
|

You can still delete it (content = empty), but the message doesn't disappear.
It doesn't matter if it is the start message of a thread or a message in the middle of the thread.

I prefer to do it a little bit more hidden and not post that in the Lounge.
[Your post in the Lounge]
a.) Click the message you posted
b.) Hover over the 'Edit' and copy the link with right click
c.) In the link change action=d
d.) Put that to the browsers address bar
e.) Done

I know what you meant with the link in the first message.
I just wanted to confirm, that the standard "delete" widget is not available, because I would have really bet against it.
EDIT: Spam and Abuse is the same as in the lounge. Meaning:
Unanswered message == delete active
Answered message == delete NOT active
Here in the Bugs and Suggestions is always active

Spam and Abuse I have other expirience. See link below where I deleted by GUI: Advertising in Profiles - gone[^]
But easy possible, that I meanwhile mixed up the things

Funny enough, the "delete" widget in other people's message is active for me.
The "delete" in my own messages is not.
Not sure if that has to do with my badge... I thought the protector "remove" is the red "X" in the subject line.
