If you choose the "fixed" layout (bottom of the page) this is corrected.
We debated internally about making the homepage fixed regardless of preference, and I'm still thinking it's the only way to get it looking as I want.

The space actually caused the horizontal scrollbar to appear, while neither mode usually show that.
It was showing that no matter what I selected (fixed was actually even worse!). I think it was a Firefox glitch of some sort, as after a reboot, the problem has vanished.

Why don't you just by a Mac or five, get yourself a pair of thickrimmed black rectangular glasses and start a lifestyle magazine. We are obviously not the audience you want.
Being forced to use "fixed" instead of "fluid" would for me be a much bigger issue for me than the "White space problem".
In all honesty, I'd like to say though, that since you have fixed the issues with the new design you have done a great job. The new design is a lot better then the old one IMHO.
I now use "Compact" with "fluid" and that looks good. I believe though that the spacing option "Tight" could be renamed to "Taking the piss" without anyone complaining.

Doesn't fix it for me - actually makes it worse (Chrome 23.0.1271.95 m).
On my setup, the problem appears to be the spacing of "Latest News"/"Latest Discussions"/"Latest Picks", which seem misaligned with the sections above.
Can I suggest a grid system layout?

AFAIK, you can vote multiple times. (For cases, you want to change your vote at later stage) Internally, overall, your vote is considered once - new one override the old one.

Something I find a little disconcerting. If I hover anywhere in the body of a forum post, the 'Reply' link is highlighted (in a very conspicuous red). However clicking in the body (not on the highlighted link area) does nothing. In my tiny brain, that sort of highlighting is associated with "click will now do something".

I just received this error while trying to edit a question;
Please keep the subject between 3 and 50 words. The better the question, the better your answer.
The subject was "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word" (30 Characters), so technically fits the length criteria. After changing to "Microsoft Office Interop with Word" it was happy.
Looks like a bug in your subject validator, or other rules at play that are not being shared.
Edit: just noticed it says words and not characters, but if that is the case then the OP should not have been allowed to post the question in the first place.

Re post from other location on site:
Every time I try and log into Code project it crashes, get picture of the bugs, OK that's neat but fed up seeing it!
Using IE9 on Window 7 64 bit - no other problems seen with IE9 or system, just Code project
Have exited, cleared cache etc.
Update 1
Just noticed that one of the crashed attempts at logging in must have actually worked as I'm logged in. So maybe its not the logging in but what the web page does after log in!
Update 2 Seems to work with Chrome better! No crash
As a note:
Code project use to be great, now its difficult and hard to use just like VS 2012.
The badly designed Metro interface makes it nearly impossible to find things without resorting to trial clicks all over the place - just finding the log in on the home page is near impossible - even when you find 'You need to be signed in' the link is badly contrasted nearly as bad as Windows 8. Metro look is not CP's fault - but using it is!
Please ditch the Metro look it doesn't work -or a least tone it down so that its at least usable!

I use IE9 on Win7 64bit extensively and unfortunately can't reproduce the issue. Since you say you are seeing the Mad Hamsters error page it means it's a server (our) issue, not something your end. On that error screen there should be a ticket number. Can you please send that ticket number to me next time you see it? I'm looking at the error logs and not seeing anything relevant.

...to see implemented as a "standard", especially since CPHog is not working anymore with the new layout, and me being too occupied at the moment for modifying it:
When I have the number of messages per page set on say 25, and the 25th is not the last answer of the thread, would it possible to additionally display the answers of this specific thread ?
In clear text : do not display n messages per page, but n+number of messages belonging to the last thread.

I've always balked at this because some threads are way too long for this to a sensible idea.
Maybe for the foolhardy I could add a "load the rest of the thread" button that would do this on-demand.
