Some of these articles are poorly written. When they are "vetted," they need to be rewritten in correct grammatical form.
Sentences like the following should NEVER appear in print.
"All that user wants from self-defined and self-controlled application is that it should be easy to deploy the application and undeploy without any hassles. This article mainly targets at how to customize the installers to..."
"Creating an installer ,for the a windows or web project is a fairly simple job."
"The following code snippets describe based on a web setup project. "
"Right clicking on Web Application Folder , it gives an option to add project output or file."
"Choosing Project Output, You get list of all projects in the solution."
All from the same article?????

We try. If you find an article where an editor has simply been too overwhelmed with volume to give an article the attention it deserves then email us and we will tag that article for reworking.

I think the articles on Code Project are great as a whole. If they were all well written, that would definitely improve the quality of the sight. Thanks.

We try and fix as many of the grammar/spelling errors as we possibly can do in a reasaonable amount of time. But sometimes, people send in articles that are written in a style not acceptable to native English speakers. It's not a matter of fixing grammar but is more an issue with sentence structuring. It's possible to have gramatically correct sentences that sound really awful to a native speaker of the language. And it's almost impossible to get it right without rewriting the entire article - which is not the job of the editors.
The only option we have is to reject such articles and ask the authors to have it proof-read and edited by someone who speaks English. But I do not know how many authors will be willing to do that and the end effect would be that CP would lose out on some very good articles.

I can see why you wouldn't want to rewrite articles because "Now with my own blog," means absolutely nothing. It's a sentence fragment.

You have to ask yourself whether you want a site full of many thousands of badly-written articles by happy people, or a site full of well-written articles. You're basically saying that it's not the job of the editors to edit. Part of being an editor is to reject bad content; it's an inescapable part of the job. Many articles on the site right now should be deleted outright, for plagiarism and other abuse.
I offered some time ago to edit the less-well-written articles, having had decent editing experience. I was told that everything was under control, but I keep seeing indications that more editing help is needed. Badly-written articles are becoming more common, and the wait for an article to get edited seems to be increasing.

You're basically saying that poorly written articles can be very good, something with which most people would disagree.

No - we are saying that the quality of the grammer is not related to the quality of the or value of the information.
A poor article may contain excellent code, or may contain that snippet of information that isn't contained elsewhere on the site and that some developer, somewhere needs.
We're about doing our best to provide help in whichever way we can, not about providing a glossy, well written sanitised magazine style offering.

Hi,
I've been programming for only about a year now and have used cp to learn a lot. (Not written an article as yet since I don't know enough)
But I'd be more than willing to spend time to help you rewrite articles that have grammatical/spelling issues (only the text, not the code of course .. like I said I'm still a newbie) . I'm not a native speaker of English but I'm pretty well read and think I can help out if you guys want.
Cheers

Dear Ms. Smitha Vijayan
Please know that my article "Integrate Help Into Your .NET apps" needs an urgent modification. The article can be found at http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/HelpIntegrationInDotNet.asp
Please refer to this meesage posting to know why the modification is necessary.
http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/HelpIntegrationInDotNet.asp?forumid=37587&exp=0&select=802753&df=100#xx802753xx
I understand it is our responsibility to ensure that articles on codeproject.com are a consistent and reliable source of information. From the numerous feedbacks that i have received for the article(by feeback and mail), it appears that the discussion on the topic was way over due. And it should continue to be in demand for a greater period of time, and hence the urgency to update the article with the corrections.
Please advise on how to get the article corrected.
Thank you.
P.S. I dhad no idea where else to post this message to get you attention. And i am hoping it does.

Hi,
I am looking trough the CodeProject but can't find and instructions on how to format messages in the forum. I am looking to how to highlight a class name for instance, and how to make a part of code appear in that yellow rectangle so it is properly formated.
Q:What does the derived class in C# tell to it's parent?
A:All your base are belong to us!
|
|
|
|
|
Select the text you need to change i's style then click
code
or
pre
from the buttons at the bottom.
|
|
|
|

I have no such buttons ...

You need to be using IE for the formatting buttons to appear. Otherwise, just enter the HTML tags yourself:
<code>CWinApp</code> -> CWinApp

Somethin IDisposable something

btnNext.Enabled = true;
btnPreview.Enabled = true;
}

So it works

There was some discussion earlier as to weather or not CodeProject was VC++ oriented. Some people thought that CP revolved too much around VC++, and too little around other subjects.
It is true that CP has mostly VC++ articles, fewer C# articles and even fewer VB.Net articles. But does that really mean that CP revolves around VC++? No, I think that a majority of programmers simply program C++, and post their VC++ code. Since there are less VB.Net and C# articles, CP attracts less developers for those langauges.
To try and even this balance, a VB.Net monthy competition could be added. That might inspire programmers to post their VB.Net code.

I belive there are more ASP, VB programmers in the world than VC++ programmers. Well at least I can say that coz i meet lot of ppl who work on VB, ASP rather than on VC++.
And hey this questions should have gone in the Lounge. its a general discussion not a suggestion.

True, this would be a good general discussion. However, my point was to suggest a monthly contest for VB.Net.
