Then it might be sunspot activity, global warming, excessive snowfall, shifting of the poles, or even some LiquidNitrogen escaped from the site and is wreaking havoc on some other as yet unidentified environmental vector.

I called up NASA first to eliminate those. They assured me that no such issues are happening right now, except for all the animals dying around the world that is.

Maybe one of the CP servers suffered a dead-bird strike, or it could have been caused by the violent inter-party rhetoric - that same rhetoric that is claimed to have caused the recent shooting in Tucson.

Maybe some fat canadian chick rolled over on her TV remote, and the cellulite bumps pressed just the right combination of buttons to disrupt CPs otherwise normal operations.

When I answer a Q&A, the text appears correctly formatted in the preview block, but when I press submit the text gets reformatted so each line only extends about halfway across the block (all the text is still present, just in more lines). If I then refresh the page it goes back to normal, filling the block to its full width. It doesn't appear to be a problem just rather odd.
I also notice that the buttons at the top and the smileys at the side seem to disappear from the editing screen somewhat randomly.

I must get a clever new signature for 2011.

I just lost 100 Author and lost 56 Authority points.
There is nothing showing up in the Recent Rep Points list as to why.
Any ideas?

I think Chris is blindly fumbling around applying a retrospective readjustment to the system.

I too got around 500 author point deduction.
I was hoping that CP taking back sudden increment in author points before some days . But then I surfed who's who page Sacha still haven't lost any author points.
And one more thing if CP adjusting unfortunately received points before, Then don't forget to give me my more then 600 participant points which I didn't receive yet.

I just did a sync of your (denormalised) rep points with the raw data in order to start at a baseline since it seems somewhere the two values are getting out of whack. No points were added or removed - it was just a sync of your totals. Next step is to see why things are getting out of sync so we can end the teeth gnashing.
[Edit: Did you lose the points just now, or did you just notice you'd lost points?]

Maybe this'll help to identify/fix the problem; I deleted an answer I had posted the other day and noticed my Authority score wasn't lowered. I had edited that answer once before I deleted it and the Editor score wasn't affected after deleting either.
Today's synchronisation adjusted the Authority and Editor score by not counting deleted answers.

If it helps: I believe it's now. I am not sure by how much but it did look like some reduction without history in last hour or so.

i lost them just now (when i posted the original message) , i have my desktop rep watcher sidebar gadget running, and it flagged the changes, and it is on a 60 second refresh.

OK, thanks.
It's a case of points being removed for things like articles being deleted and the rep score not being updated.
A big part of the reason we remove rep when an item gets removed is to stop people gaming the system. I know it's frustrating to see points go, but I'll work to fix this bug so that points, when removed, are removed at the time the item gets removed, meaning no big shocks.
