I noticed the following behaviour:
- an article was pending and in my opinion it needed formatting so I left a message (suggestion) to correct the formatting, +1 point
- someone didn't like the message so it was downvoted, -2 points
- the article was removed so a "Post a General Forum Message (undo)" was added, -1 point
So at the end the total is -2 points. Now the question is, should the down/upvotes also be removed when the article is removed (as the conversations are) or is this intended that votes still remain?.

Personally, I think there's nothing wrong with keeping the points (whether positive or negative). I think if you had gotten positive points out of the whole situation instead of negative points, you would probably not even be asking the question. At least it's just -2 points, means it probably wasn't a meaningful member anyway.

Actually, I agree with you that it makes sense that the votes may remain even if the original article is removed. Just curious if this is intended behavior and works both ways.

It does work both ways... so if you happen to get +120 on upvotes on a solution and the question is removed, you'll keep those points.

This[^] article really shouldn't be in the best C# article competition as it's by Red Gate.

Fairly decent info, although it really is an ad for their product.

It is good info, but yeah - it's an ad and it has a "permission to publish" on it.

Everyone is welcome to post non-commerical articles that provide good information; it just seldom happens. The article earned its place so it gets to judged fairly.

I'd like to report that the article from user named "CS1401"[^] got more than 15 votes in the latest hours, while mine was downvoted several times in the same period.

Very interesting indeed. Don't worry Marcelo, I'm sure this will get worked out in your favor.

The votes are checked at the end to see if there is any foul play, and any suspicious ones are discounted.
