If I don't receive notification for this reply, my apoligies for suggestion n.1, but if, as I guess, I receive notification of this message, I'm legitimate to ask "why".
Even if I started the thread or if I'm one of the follower, I know what I've written and I don't need to be notified of my own messages.
What would be the purpose? The only one I see is checking if notification work, but not that I need to be informed.
This is not a complaint, however, I just asked if this was intended to be this way.
Paolo.

That comment about a chatroom got me thinking:
How about an IDE add-in that periodicaly checks to see if there is an urgent question that matches topics you would like to answer and gives you a means of sending an answer right from your IDE where you can utilize the IDE to compose the code snipits...
The add-in also would give you a quicker way to ask a question at the same time? Maybe even realtime collaboration for those really sticky problems...
Then, as an incentive for people to answer the Questions/Collaborate: Devise some means of recognizing the people that help others with give-aways and feature write-ups, etc...
Perhaps oneor more publishing co's would like to sponsor this thing if they get good exposure to the kind of code-smiths that realy spread the word of mouth advertising, and as a recruitment pool for new authors... hmm, maybe I SHOULD get some sleep I'm starting to make business sense!
Ive been code-n' things since I was 10
I real-ly can't re-mem-ber when,
I ever cou-ln't parse an ASCII string...
I don't need no byte in-struction,
All's I need is my de-duction...
It's the only way to keep Code bi-nar-y!!!

How about a discussion board on UI design and good/bad UI?
|
|
|
|

oooooo, yes. A place where I could rant and whinge about Microsoft UI designs and be on-topic whilst doing it!

Hello,
Are you guys/gals going to support JSP? I've started using the Tomcat/Jakarta JSP server and I like it, but I was kinda hoping that you lot would create some documentation (a section) for it.
Also, anyone know where I could find some good documentation on how to get a JSP JDBC connection to Oracle working? I have managed to add the Oracle JDBC driver to my project, but I'm not getting very far with my connection to the actual database!?!?!
Thanks in advance

Greetings,
well, the subject more or less tells it all.
Its so annoying when I slide the mouse over to the left to click on another window, that stupid menu slides in.
I often then uses Alt+Tab to switch back, and that menu is there covering the articles.
So I have to click on it to get rid of it.
Anyone ?

I agree. Bad UI, bad, bad...

It's gone. I'm upgrading the site design this week and it will have non-sliding sidebars.

A lot of times programmers need instant ( or wish an instant ) answer. A chat room would be great for this.
my two cents.

Yea, that would be nice. Or maybe just a codeproject IRC server...

Well...
I created a channle called "CodeProject"
type:
/join CodeProject
this channle is know (created on 19/08/01)
so don't be scared if it's a little empty.
I'm sure it will grow.

Hi!
Think the API (may be, not only Win32) forum would be very useful. At least for me.
Just now I have an API question, that I don't know where to drop.
(Pls, don't advise, where ! )

Gennady

I manage cooking. It doesn't imply the cooking skill, isn't it?
And I wonder if somebody will answer seriously ?

OK, without long history - why and what for ...
I cannot find the conventional way (I mean API) to deal with the message file. Say, I've found the message file in registry, loaded it and have the module handle in the hand. I can extract the message by ID, but I cannot neither get the count of messages, nor enumerate them. For every thing there is workaround. But I prefer the conventional way to be more safe from possible changes.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gennady
