Chris, I think you need to kick your server once again to fetch the blog posts in CP.

Yes, now those servers are working properly. I can see that. Thanks.

Of course I now cannot make it happen I see some scrolling, but not the up-and-down that I was seeing before.
You're messing with me, aren't you?

OK, happened again in the Lounge. There were 21 posts showing and I clicked on a post about in the middle of the page. First it scrolled up, then dropped back down.

Any better? I found a small issue that has smoothed things out a little.

I just clicked on a post in the Lounge that was near the top of the browser window (FF 3.6). The subject line was completely visible, but when I clicked on it, the post opened up with half of the message displayed above the top of the browser window.
I repeated the above many times, and about half the time the message is opened and displayed completely above the top of the browser window, so I can't see any part of it.
I next clicked on a post that was right at the bottom of the browser window. The post opened to display the message, but didn't scroll vertically at all, so I couldn't read it.
I haven't seen any up-and-down jigglies today.

Unfortunately there was a bug in FF that I fixed around 5pm. That should fix that issue. However, it may reintroduce the jigglies. I'm not seeing them on my machines but everyone's machine is different so it's very difficult for me to guess.

Wow. You got those bug-tracking icons set up just in time, eh?

I was just cruising the Lounge and nearly got seasick. I open a message close to - but not right on - the top border, and the message starts scrolling down, and then pops back up. Did that several times in a row with different messages.

I have FF 3.6.19 installed and cannot, for the life of me, replicate your issue.
The scrolling up / message moving down is meant to happen: if you click on a message close to the top I want the 2 messages above to be visible so you can click on them easily. The snapping back to the top? That should not happen but it sounds like the default browser action (navigating to the message anchor) is happening after our own script, even though we instruct the browser (twice!) to not do the default action.
I can disable the scrolling effect so that it's instant, meaning if the browser was listening to us it would go to the correct position, but if it wasn't it would go to it's own position, but so fast you would not notice. The only issue is: disable for which browsers? FF3.6 and below only?
Are you seeing this happen on any other browsers?

OK, I will try, but it will have to wait until this weekend.

I'm sorry. That was uncalled for.
I will fix it for 3.6

I have been trying this all weekend and it now seems rock solid. No up-and-down at all. Thanks!

Fantastic.
It's been bugging me and I was just about to dive into another round of trying to sort it out.
time instead since it's meant to be a public holiday here

I'm curious (my knowledge in this area is slight) - Can you find out from the browser where a post is being displayed in the browser window?
|
|
|
|
|
Yes - which is how we're doing the jiggle creation. I mean smooth scrolling.

I have recently joined a popular alternate to CP because I wanted to up vote something that helped me out and I need a certain level of rep so I endured it. But there are a couple of features which would be great here in CP.
1. Trophies - Give me something good to work towards. Rather than all the little things certain other members do to get rep points (like add some spacing to a Q&A post )
2. Notifications - It would be great to have an easy access way to see when people have replied to my messages, without either A) having to go search, or B) getting an email on my phone and then having to go search again. (I know there is a list in my profile, but that is just 1 click to many!)
Anyway, as with any of my other requests I will look forward to seeing this progress nowhere.

Ya know, I never thought this "Achievement Unlocked" trend in games would catch on...

This would be really useful for me, since I generally browse CP at work, but it's linked to my home e-mail. Doesn't need to be a real-time popup or anything, but maybe something that shows up on the top next to your name...

I have basically abandoned my Wii purely for PS3 trophies

Isn't MVP-ness a big enough incentive for you?

It is not very varied thou. I certainly don't seek it out, it will come when/if it comes and that how I see that one. Rewarding people (even with just a bit of prestige) is only going to make this a better, more active community... and I think we could do with some reason to put of all the silly little rep-grabbing things that people do with re-formatting a bit of text that is fine just the way it is.
I am sick of seeing...
EDIT: I added a full stop so I could get some points.

Why? Isn't helping others reward enough or do you have to be patted on the head?

I have spent many hours here helping people out purely because of my good nature, but that doesn't mean we can't add a little fun to the process as well
