Hi Guys.
i have a question.

Someone installed Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine 2000 on Windows 8?

im trying to install, but it stop at 3 seconds when it execute

i need install this MSDE2000 because a customer doesn't want to migrate to a new technology,so i respect that.

Some Help.

What I have tried:

I Run it with Windows XP compatibility and Run AS Administrator but Nothing.

If your neo-Amish customers don't want to upgrade to anything released after 2000 - even if it's totally free - then maybe they shouldn't have upgraded their computers to Windows 8? :)

MSDE 2000 is old unsupported technology, try installing the newer SQL Server Express instead : SQL Server 2016 Express Edition | Microsoft[^]

I get it. I have a question. I have already installed SQL EXPRESS 2016 on some machines that do need all the built-in tools, but in this case, when I want only the database engine, installing SQL EXPRESS installs tools that I do not need. is there any configuration to install SQL Express 2016 so that the end user can not: modify, delete, change database configuration? Greetings.

As far as I can tell, it's not supported on Windows 8, which is itself out of support.

You have no choice but to upgrade to SQL Server Express[^].
