Although you marked Sandeep's answer as the solution, you appear to have voted it 1. Just in case you have misunderstood the voting system 1 is for a poor answer and 5 is for a good answer. :)

A quick Google, led me here: How Do I Become a DBA? - Jonathan Gennick[^] which provides a (mostly Oracle based, but the information is generic to all DBs) guide to how to become a DBA.

There will be other routes: probably as many as there are DBAs working out there!
Try Google yourself, and see what you can find!

Now, that makes a lot of sense.
This is not a technical question. I would suggest you to take this discussion somewhere else where you have proper audenience and you might get some help.

Try: The Lounge[^] OR GIT[^]

Q&A is not just for technical questions, at least I don't think so. Still that was no reason to down-vote your answer. Although I suspect that the OP, given that they have marked it as the solution, has the voting scale backwards.

Okie-dokie. Thanks for both the information and thanks! :)

A query need not be completely technical to be posted into the Q/A section. That was the very purpose of this section.

Plus, the correct forum that this query would fit into would be "Work and Training issues". If you aren't sure, you could just refrain from "answering" and avoid possibly misguiding the OP!

Okay! Point taken.

Just happened to see the post in Lounge. I see he got much better response and help than he could have got it here.

Fine, one can post here, but discussion forums would help more for such queries. What do you say?
