Algorithm for finding tick interval on graph

How to find tick interval of graph?
I used the following formula
tick = mindata + (1/maxdata)
but could not find the nice tick value.

I want to draw line graph without using chart control. tick interval is distance between two grid line on Y axis

I don't understand what's the problem. Generally you would select a "nice" value as tick size (10, 100, 1000, ...) based on the scale i.e. the difference between max and min value presented.

How can I take tick size from min and max value??

First, the tick size can be what ever you want it to be. It's up to you to decide. What are your requirements? Second, use the Reply button otherwise people don't get notified of your comments.
