error in setup my application + exe file

dear everyone.. i made a c# application and when i tried to install it, i got the following error
Error 1001: Could not find file "c:\mypath\myapp.InstallState"

Scouring the web I've found a few examples of similar experiences, but none of the solutions offered have worked for me.

Any ideas?

also i have 2 files *.msi and *.exe

i want o have only one file *.exe

Any idea???

Do you use Visual Studio? Which version? What did you use to create the installer? Can you give a few clues?... It's difficult to guess with so little information.

i am developing a windows application connected by web service to get some data from server using visual studio 2010 ultimate

i want to make setup to let the user install this software on his machine but i got this error when installing it on older version of this application

but when i install it without having old version it did not get this error
