submit a web site on search engines

I only submitted my site to Google: http://www.google.com/submityourcontent/website-owner/[^].

In a short period of time (pretty short, few days, I don't remember more exactly), I found that the few search words I cared about resulted it getting my site in first line at Google, and pretty soon, I got the same result with all major search engines, but only those available in English.
