Stop Page Flcikering in browser

My Master Page has 8 content pages , while I switch from one page to another , the page flickers like anything, How can I deter page flickering . I tried Blend Trans in head tag, Since I have file download response, the downloading window behind the save as dialog is not closed even if the download completes or I cancel the download action.

Is there any way to hinder the flickering>>? or make the save/open dialog work properly

any suggestion is appreciated.

It's windows xp with IE8 and firefox 17

I have a single css file which servers all the pages , more over I have a two masters with 8 content pages.
I didn't include any thing useless in css
