How to check the formula in an excel sheet

I have to view the formula in an Excel sheet, But it just shows the value but not the formula. Is there any way to do this?

I want to check the cell which calculates Azimuth.

Solution 2

In Excel 2007, under Formulas Tab there is toggle button Show Formulas to show or hide formulas in the Worksheet. The key board short cut is CTRL + ` and in Excel2003 it is under Tools->Options->View->Formulas Check box.

But I cannot change because it is in compatibility mode. How do I change that?

I have checked in Excel 2007, the Show Formulas button works in Compatibility mode also.

I have checked. First Circular reference error was shown. After that the sheet was opened. The Show Formulas button is working. Since, there are no formulas the formulas could not be seen. Since the worksheet is protected formulas could not be entered for checking. But for example in cell E8 05.373" is displayed and the value is 5.3732220696519 as seen in the formula bar. When the Show Formulas button is clicked 5.3732220696519 is shown E8 cell instead of 05.373", similarly the values in other are shown.

Solution 1

You have to first unprotect the sheet but then when I went to Edit, Go To, Special (still in Excel 2003) and chose Formulas it said there were none.

Yeah I tried unprotecting the the sheet, but its just the values but not formula.
