How to count users using my application?

I have created a program. but I want to know how many users use it.
So is there is any idea on how to count users?

It is had to know what you are looking for without some additional information from you. First you accepted my answer then unaccepted it. Are you making a corporate app? A consumer app? Each of these can be handled in different ways. We need information from you as to what you are doing.

I want my application to count how many users are using this program daily or/and monthly. and it wil count when the user start my program.

What some application developers do is to put a step in the installer to go to a webpage after the install is complete. Then on uninstall they do the same to a different page. This way they can get a quick count of people that have the software on their system.

Of course if you tried to automate that behind the scenes then people might get made at you because they don't know why your software is sending data to a website and you don't know about it. The launching of a webpage on install seemed better to most people because even with a packet sniffer you can see that nothing is being sent to the server.

Yuo could always have the app keep statistics about usage and then have a menu option to send them as well.
