I know that we can use source code released under this license in a commercial product, but I am still unsure as to some of the restrictions, namely section e.

If there are copyright notices in the code do we have to make reference to this in any printed material / about box etc... of the main product? Something like "xyzDataGrid copyright Super Coder" and enclose a copy of the CPOL license? Or is this requirement only if we were releasing it as a separate entity to make sure we're not trying to pass it off as our own work. What happens in the case of where there is no copyright information in the code?

Thanks,

Cal

Using code from an article in a commerical product?? Which one?? That's a little scary considering most of the code you find in the articles are written for demonstration purposes only and are not what I would call "production quality".

Once you take a portion of code or the entire application, You can give at least great appreciation to the writer.You can say
C#
// This code is taken from CodeProject written by "Author Name"
// http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/...

Copyright is different from a license. Just as with printed material, such as books, the copyright must be respected. Beyond the legal requirement, it is just the right thing to do. People here have put a lot of effort into the articles and code and if you have found it to be useful enough to use in your product they deserve to be credited.
