Hi everyone,

I'm just about to start designing a new business application and I want to hear the community on what kind of platform I should use.
The application is a highly complex business application, with media management involved (record, playback, etc), it's a requirement to have a very rich and responsive user interface,
it needs to run on win and mac, users will log from an office (t1) or home office (dsl).
The requirments go on and on, but I think you can paint the picture.

silverlight is first on my list, because it's .net (what my shop knows well), because it's easy to develop, because maintanability of the product and also DRM

Please, let's not make this a debate about "silverlight is dead" versus "html5 is the only way" I need to solve a problem and i'd like to hear unbiased comments about all possible approaches.

Thanks in advance for the help

What are your DRM requirements? That could play a major part in any decision you make.

If you need to manage DRM on the client (e.g. register licenses etc) you will need extended privileges that are unlikely to be available from a web application.

My last DRM application was an absolute nightmare to manage from the browser!

You can surely go with silverlight as it supports both RIA as well as Windows application. You will get the best UI using SL. I don't have much experience of HTML5 so I could not say something about it.
