JCreator is a Windows program, it won't work in Linux. Ubuntu includes the eclipse-jdt IDE for developing Java programs.

Use Ubuntu's package managment system to install eclipse-jdt, don't try to download firectly from the eclipse.org website.

Given the earlier problems I was just trying to emphasise that it's no good trying to install a Windows app on Linux. It's a while since I worked on Linux, and never Ubuntu.
