Auto-download on web page

In my web application i want have a feature where i want to check that a particular .exe exists on the computer of the user or not, if it does not i want to download it automatically else i want to run the .exe installed on the PC. How can this be done??

You can't do anything on the client side file system of a web connection.

please confirm if we cannot check that a particular .exe exists on the computer of the user or not coz i need to communicate it to my manager
