Hie guys for the past few days i have been on google trying to find out the difference between a programmer and a software developer. Is the difference classified by the type of qualifaction, and if so which of the two do i fall in? Here are my qualifications, I started working towards a degree in computer studies offered by NCC(UK) in 2009 and out of the modules offered i grew attached to VB.NET and now i on advanced diploma level so do i qualify to get a job to be any two

That is very subjective. When you look for a job you should exclude any offerings because of the title of the position offered.

These wikipedia entries might help you out.
Software developer[^]
Programmer[^]

Software developer:
A software developer is a person concerned with facets of the software development process. Their work includes researching, designing, developing, and testing software[^]

Programmer:
A programmer, computer programmer or coder is someone who writes computer software[^]

Wikipedia ftw! Seems like a developer has a few more tasks. I doubt there is a difference in real life though... And does it really matter?
As for qualifications, they are overrated. I have no qualifications in anything computer related, but my job description says developer.
