I am planning to start a online business of my own and I am very much confused about how to choose a domain for registering my business online. Can I please know how to choose a domain for registering my online business?

What I have tried:

Registration of my online business.

Use your name, or your cat's name. It is completely up to you.

My cat would be thrilled at that! Her name's Google and I stroke her every day.

Many, many years ago (in my mainframe days) I come across a useful free print utility. The preamble at the beginning said, "I could not think what to call this application so I named it after my cat". The program name was "fang".

The domain is totally up to you: we can;t help you with that, as it should be snappy, unique, and - hopefully - relevant to the kind of products the user will find inside.

For example, calling your domain "JonesPlumbingSupplies.com" and then selling computer software is going to lose you a lot of potential sales.
And since we have no idea what you are trying to sell, we really can't help you name your shop!

Think of a name - short is best if you are dealing with the public - and start seeing if it's available either locally (for the UK that would be a ".co.uk" address, for Ireland that would be ".ie", for India that would be ".in") or more globally with ".com"
If it is, put it on the "Possible" list, and try some more. Don;t ruch in - it's a big decision because once established, it's harder to change without losing existing customers.
You will also probably hacve to comply with local government laws on businesses, but General Indian Topics Discussion Boards[^] may be more help to you there than a "generic forum" such as QA.

Good luck!

I would say do NOT check availability on any domain-name site. Even legit ones. Unless you buy the domain immediately, the chances are good that someone else will buy it up and try to sell it to for the low-low-price of twice what it would have cost if you bought it immediately. I've been waiting for years for the jerk who bought up my preferred .com name and just has it parked.

Maybe just doing a web search for the domain you want, would at least tell you if it's already in use somewhere.

That's how I'd start checking - most of the "good ones" are already taken, and a quick URL will tell you if it's up. Build a list that way, and then try to grab them by preference
