If you don't need all those fields, why have them, else create a new model that has just those fields you need and use that for this purpose, you could even use as a base and extend eg (I've assumed the name is for a student but I've no idea, so change accordingly):

Without the code it's hard to totally understand your issue, but I would imagine you may need a model for your SQL and the model for your view, and a service that maps between the two.

You haven't posed your model or what you're submitting to get this. Put a break point in the ModelState.IsValid line and drill down into the debug code to see if there's any detail in there as well.

Have you tried writing the calls, urls and error messages to the console to get a better indication of what is being called and the response being returned?

You want to make it look like it's not responding when it isn't? Or you want it to look like it's not responding when it is? If the latter you should probably make it so it doesn;t become not responsive but moving any code that cases this to background threads.

Why would you need to? Windows doesn't distinguish between the 2 when it comes to shortcuts.

If you're trying to do what i think you're doing, you might be best encapsulating the Add to list option to check if the object already exists in the list before adding, it'll be much more efficient that trying to compare each object in the list with each other object.

Go and show some users what you have and get them to use it. they'll tell you how to improve it. Then go find what you need.

If it's none shared network folder, and you're using impersonation to impersonate an account with access to that folder, you could say access the c: drive with the path set to:

With FTP you'd need a different solution, look at ssh.NET see if there's anything useful in there.

A very simple approach may be to have each layer in a separate project.

Each layer then provides an interface and an implementation of the interface that the next layer can consume.

If you want to avoid the freezing/make the application more responsive whilst loading you could load the images to memory on a separate thread and then once the load is completed notify the main thread to display the images.

Or there's Exchange Web Services if you are using an exchange server.

Are you overloading the server or connection? Have you tried running it with 10 e-mails at a time and seeing if the error occurs? Alternatively something like using a background worker and firing it off every 60 seconds but checking if it is still busy beforehand.

How do you want to send your e-mail? Through your own Exchange server, or, in this case I'd recommend looking into using something like Mandrill to handle the e-mails themselves and then just get the users from your database and pass to Mandrill via one of the many web API options.
