I did spot two things that may or may not make a difference.
I would change these two lines to this:

Saad Arman, I understand your requirement. I stand by my Solution #2. If I were developing an application such as this, I would want a central location to store the information about each user, their activities, their current state, etc. I would use a database to store such information. Database servers are designed to handle concurrency and data integrity, etc. for multiple clients. Without a central store of information, in a network of N computers, any one computer would have to communicate with N - 1 other computers. This quickly becomes a difficult task to implement and takes longer than maintaining information in a central database.

Based on my experience, the most likely causes in priority order:
1. Lack of appropriate indexes
2. Using concatenated string SQL statements instead of SQLParameter class

You are not creating a backup in the code you provided. You are attempting to do a restore. You are trying to do a restore from a file ('I:\aaa.Bak') that is currently opened by another task. Maybe SQL Server Management Studio left it open? Or maybe some other process that created it left it open? Shut down those processes.

That said, it is rather dangerous to put a database restore button in your application. A user may restore the database and lose all of their transactions. Even if you train them, they could "mistakenly" do restore an old copy of the database.

That is why your code gets the exception. The timer1_Tick procedure was getting called every four seconds even if the previous timer1_Tick had not finished running. This would cause some listbox items to be sent twice. By using my revised version, timer1_Tick will only be called once per listbox item.

The error message says that it needs almost 37GB to restore your database. Make sure that the disk that you are restoring to has more than 37GB free space. You might want to Defrag that disk before attempting the install.

When do you need it and why?

If you use the Toolbox and drag the SerialPort control onto your form, the proper declaration is created for you and a property sheet is shown to declare initialization properties. The Toolbox is found in Visual Studio under the View menu.

If you want to use a web server, you must install the FrontPage Extensions. For me, it was easier to use a file server.

On your file server, you can create a directory in the existing file share folder and put different permissions on that directory. Just because it is a single file share folder, does not mean you can't have subdirectories within it with different permissions to allow or disallow users access to those subdirectories.

Alternatively, if you wanted to create a new file share for software distribution, why wouldn't your management allow that? There is no harm in creating extra file shares with appropriate permissions.

-e means echo the input to the output log
-w 166 means use 166 as the width of the output log
-i means that the input SQL command filename follows (C:\BAT\Shrinkdb.sql)
-o means that the name of the output log file follows (C:\BAT\Shrinkdb.log)

See 2. in Solution 1. That is an illustration of the contents of the SHRINKDB.SQL file that is read by SQLCMD. I used Notepad.exe to create both ShrinkDb.SQL and ShrinkDB.BAT

Click "New Folder" and create a BAT folder or a folder with whatever name you like. I use BAT because it is short and easy to remember.

Changing names did not resolve your problem.
Reordering the updatenow.Parameters.Add statements did.

Date and Time values should always be stored in a database in the proper data type. Doing so is a best practice. Doing so minimizes programming for calculations and display of date and time values. Doing so prevents errors. Not doing so is unprofessional!

Your reporting software will use a SELECT statement with a WHERE clause and an ORDER BY clause to select only those rows that need to be reported. All the orders are stored once in the database. Absolutely, no separate table per order.

No one does that! No one here is going to advise you on how to do that. You need to explain to your employers that doing that would be a disaster.

The <BR> tag is used in HTML Table cells to force a string value to wrap to the next line within a table cell. The new value would then be output into the HTML table cell rather than the original database value.

You have some errors in your logic. You call updtable for each row retrieved and updtable updates all rows that meet the Select's Where clause selection critieria and the var = 1 criteria. See Solution 1. That is the correct way to do this task. That one SQL statement in Solution 1 does the entire task. No need for separate Select and Update statements.

I agree that DATEADD is allowed in ACCESS. I just don't think it is allowed in ACCESS SQL statements.

When you say CPREdt <= (now + 15), it will return CPREdt where the time component on (Now + 15) is 12:00:00AM but it will not return CPREdt on (NOW + 15) with any time greater than 12:00:00AM. By saying CPREdt < (now + 16), you get all CPREdt times on (NOW + 15).

We have a similar problem with CPREdt >= now. NOW will contain a time component. Any CPREdt < the current date/time will not be selected.
Try the following Where clause:
CPREdt > (now - 1) AND (CPREdt < now + 16)

This will ensure all times are included on the current date and the current date + 15.

Does CPREdt contain any time component? It would be safer to use the following Where clause:

These problems arise from not following best practices for data design. The value should be in one column of the DataGrid. In the SQL Server database, the value should be stored in one column as a Date or Time Data Type. When computing, the DateTime structure method AddMinutes should be used to compute the new value. String formatting should be used to format as hh:mm.

DateTime data type stores date as an integer value. It does not matter what date format you pass in your INSERT SQL statement although ISO format YYYY-MM-DD is preferred.

Validation of a date should be done in the application source code (e.g. C# or VB .NET). I suggest that you use CDATE() within a Try..Catch block to determine if a date is a valid date.

If you are using Signed Degrees format (a signed numeric value), you can store in the database as a decimal number and compare it using >=, <- or = in a SQL Select statement Where clause. I wouldn't use the Like operator to compare latitude and longitude values.

If you are using one of the Degrees-minutes-seconds formats to store latitude and longitude, the problem becomes a bit more difficult. Without knowing the format of you latitude and longitude values, it is difficult to provide help. I would urge you to use Signed Degrees format instead.

It looks like you never instantiate CANBusRedDetails, CANBusYellowDetails, CANBusGreenDetails or CANBusOrangeDetails. You must instantiate them before you use them.

DateTime data type values are stored as "Ticks". A tick is one ten-millionth of a second. There are 10,000 ticks in a millisecond. Occasionally, you will see results like you have seen.

It is a best practice to use >= or <= comparisons rather than equality comparisons when comparing computed values because of the potential for rounding errors.

Math.Min and Math.Max are the methods that you use to compare the values in an array. If you mean DataTable or database table and not array, then your SQL statement would be similar to SELECT MIN(cost),Max(cost) from tablename.

It is always null because you are declaring a new rect variable in canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown instead of using the rect variable already declared at the class level. See my Solution 1.

Use Visual Studio interactive debugger and set a breakpoint at assignment to rect in canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown. Then you can see when and if rect variable at the class level is getting instantiated.

Also, you must add if (rect != null) into canvas1_MouseMove because the mouse will move before the right-click. You have to use if (rect != null) to ensure that rect has been instantiated.

You had declared rect in canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown. You only need to instantiate rect in canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown since you already declared it at the class level. Your code never instantiates the rect variable at the class level. My Solution 1 solves this.

I added the check for rect != null into canvas1_MouseMove. This ensures that the code in canvas1_MouseMove only runs after rect has been instantiated. canvas1_MouseMove is going to run as soon as you move your mouse a tiny bit inside canvas1 area. Therefore, you have to have a check to be sure that rect has been instantiated.

The variable click is what you are using as a signal to indicate that the rect variable was instantiated. See revised Solution 1.

if (click == true && rect != null)

That means that canvas1_MouseMove was called and click == true was true before canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown was completed. What if you moved click = true; to the bottom of canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown?

And maybe add a check into canvas1_MouseMove that rect is not null to ensure that canvas1_MouseRightButtonDown was executed before canvas1_MouseMove.

There are so many different ways to do it. Every developer has their favorite ways to do it. I, for example, put the ConnectionString into my application source code. I do not use a database username and password. I use integrated security feature so that the SQL Server uses the user's Windows Network Login credentials. I use conditional compilation to select either development version of the database or the production version of the database. I can do this because my software is run only at one location.
This is how I do it:

If you are developing software that will be distributed to multiple locations and will have a different database server at each location, then you need some external means to deliver the ConnectionString to your application. Some developers use the application's .Config file. See documentation for ConnectionStringsSection Class and Get connection string from app.config file.

Other developers do similar to what you are doing, either put the whole connection string into a text file or INI file or some portion of it.

Still other developers put an entry into the System Registry as part of the installation process.

I don't understand your issue. It looks like the statement in your posting just above this reply does create a connection string from the contents of the cons() array.

cons is an array of data type String. You can address individual elements using the syntax cons(index) where index is a value from 0 to cons.GetUpperBound(0). See documentation for Array.GetUpperBound for more information.

I don't think that using Semester and Quarter as literals will work. The OP converts the value retrieved from the database to Int32 before storing it in "returnedlevel" so I expect that Semester and Quarter should be an integer constant.
