what is your streaming server? i mean how you gets the data ?
you can have look at AsyncFilter( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd317573(v=vs.85).aspx), in which it reads data from file. You can modify it to read from the server using socket programming..
if you are beginner in this i suggest you first have look at directshow programming tutorials and samples(it is available with the sdk)
a quick search found these
http://www.laganiere.name/directshowTut/
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/60599/A-Brief-Tutorial-On-How-To-Develop-DirectShow-Sour
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc301631.aspx
hopes this helps

i had used direct show to save streams.. in that you can have source filter which reads data from a server, and saves/plays it .. you have a look at directshow samples..

static text not have such feature, otherway is to draw characters by yourself using functions like DrawText or TextOut, and setting colors SetTextColor.. In this case you need to handle painting of your control yourself. This is also easy.

one more suggestion.. create a buffer which contains full of red.(ie only alpha,and red bytes are 256) then pass it to TextImage2D function.. see what is happening.. check if it is still white..

you need to create a source dc same size as of the thing to draw.. i don't think creating 1000x1000 size dc will affect the perfomance..

hi blood999
i don't think by hooking you can achieve it. because opengl drawing are per context. how you will synchronize frames(drawn by u and original) ?

This what you need to do
CApp::InitInstance()
{
//...some codes
CLoginDlg dlg;
if( dlg.DoModal() != OK )
{
// login failed , you don't need to show your frame window.
return FALSE;
}
// as usual CSingleDocTemplate and creation of CFrameWnd and all...
return TRUE;
}
