I guess to make both different isolated web page talk to each other directly (Student bio vs Quiz) would lead to a tight coupling. So rather make it independent. Let the saved value go to server or an intermediate service or entity. Such a way you can have a loose coupling.

Guessing the page here means ASP.NET, then tagged appropriately for you.

Basically an open mind is what is needed to excel. Admit mistakes and learn and preach is the best mantra :)

I am not sure about the performance yet, because you have included any information regarding the same.
Any ways need not always be a dll for disassembling! ;)

Dont you think LINQ is internally again a loop though with much better tweaks. But this post says with out loops.

Although its a nice trick, but its some times confusing and even missed out if your shipping the code. I guess its lot better to use conditional directives!

Good if visual studio does this by default atleast!! Instead of writing NotImplementedException.

Lack of information and clarity.

So what you are saying is that the source code has to be shipped to the customer wherein at some time later when there is a need, it can be compiled on the fly there itself rather than shipping from the vendor again? Perhaps like SP!
Definitely as others said, it needs much more clear explanation. Hence down voting this.

@Pete,
Have updated the Regex code part, please take a look if its correct. Just for the readability sake i updated it because earlier html tags got mixed up in between the code.

Have not done a perf mon on both of the solutions, but finding a process name is more costly than mutex way, i think.

If your deleting all of the browser session history, then its a problem. Assume i have opened few tab pages and upon closing this tab page and it clears all other tap pages history then its a problem right?
Other wise good tip mate :)
My vote of 5 as well :)

Yes, For your kind info, this tip isnt any attempt to replace the exact IS operator. Infact i just tried 2 see how basic IS operator can be simulated and not implement every feature it does in c#.
Plus, internally it takes object and a type and converts objects to type 2 compare. Yes as johannes guy pointed out i am not taking inheritance into picture here.
FYI, this isnt a replacement for IS nor a FULL implementation either. Hope you understand.
Thanks

Appreciate your suggestion, but as said i am not creating a replica instead simulating the same.
Also yes i didnt take inheritance into consideration.
