Why label this a rant when it's the truth? I loathe those who are quick to soil themselves and often want things done yesterday. No ability to chill. They'd be better suited to a hospital emergency room--ideally as patients.

I do it 1 to 3 times a day. The very first thing in the morning to see if I have to re-schedule something before I start, one (optionally) during the day if I have finished something and there is a natural break point anyways, at the end of the day (optionally) if I am not that busy with something else that I don't have any time left.

On a day working from home, I sat at the kitchen table eating my lunch (at the usual time, my colleagues know when I am out for lunch normally).
Microsoft Teams rang. I ignored it.
A moment later, the phone on the landline rang. I ignored it.
Another moment later, my mobile rang. I ignored it.
Having finished lunch, I returned to my computer, and saw that an email had arrived in Outlook.
All 4 things from the same guy.
For a rather irrelevant question which could wait for hours, of course.
So what, if the world was on fire, I'll have had a good lunch at least. No need to experience it while being hungry.

Well, here’s the final nail in the UWP coffin: At Build 2020, Microsoft will finally describe how it plans to move past this platform disaster. I guess this means they'll have to create a new UI model soon?

There is actually a company policy that bans any newly created DLL or public API from having 'Ex' in the name. I learned about this some years ago when I named wuuhext.dll and a flurry of code reviewers pointed it out. I simply marked them all as *WONT FIX* and the name got through.

Done right, this could be good news (Positive spin mode). UWP only worked on tiny devices that nobody bought and is a total PITA on everything people did buy / use. So dumping UWP and making existing apps work properly on "real world" devices could be a brilliant move.
They're going to automatically make Win32 apps look like UWP with a Ribbon, aren't they? And probably add Clippy.

HOWEVER, you can still do it "the old way", because at its core, Windows still needs to maintain backward compatibility with the millions of existing Windows applications that are already out there. They've been trying to push WinUI for the last 5 years or so (since Win8 was a bad idea).
