This is normal cacheing behavior. The file is cached in memory, which is much much faster than a CD drive. When you eject the CD, the cached files are discarded because the original files become inaccessible.

Hello i am using windows XP as administrator. The problem is that the exploerer does not save the pages offline. That is you can view them offline. I have tried the method told in the "f1" help to synchronize the web pages before offline but i do not like it and it sometimes does not work.
Is there any way the exploer behave as in windows 98 and 2000 where u can see previous webpages by going to histroy .
Is there some problem with installation?

I have to convert a program written for linux to windows. I am a complete novice in this field and require some help. The current code involves system level programming and uses a large number of linux header files including
module.h, moduleparam.h, kernel.h, fs.h ..
Are there any suggestions as to what would be a good starting point for such a conversion? Also, what would be a good resource to find windows equivalents to for these header files?

It sounds like you're trying to convert a kernel-loadable module. The closest Windows equivalent is a device driver: to develop one, you'll need the Driver Development Kit[^]. You aren't going to be able to port the code - you'll need to do a complete rewrite. By my understanding, the Linux kernel development model is very different from the Windows driver model.
What are you actually trying to achieve? Windows may provide a facility to achieve this in user-mode code.

I looked it in c:\windows\security and in c:\windows\systeme32 But i did not find it.

Ask yourself what would happen if account passwords were kept somewhere. Would you want any old program (like, say, a virus or spyware) to be able to read your passwords?

If I did that I would be flamed 
I was asked to break the password of a laptop, the owner had died, so I did some research, as a test I created a new account and password on my XP bix and managed to get the password.
But to give you a clue, I am sure you would find it eventually, use rainbowcrack http://www.antsight.com/zsl/rainbowcrack/
I think you will find it takes far too long to make the tables for this to be an easy soluion, but it is possible! Also you need to be able to get these two files to crack the password
BTW in the end breaking into the laptop was so easy I did not need to do the above.

Windows 95/98 used to store the password with some trivial encryption in a file in the windows directory, but anything later than that does not. As others have said, through the miracle of cryptographic hashing algorithms, it is not necessary to actually store a password in order to be able to verify it. Thus, NT/2000/XP/2003 only store password hashes, not actual passwords.

i need your help , i m trying to do this but i m unable to do it ...here we have a code which has two fork()(creating two child)...where one does addition and other subtraction , but if you see output logically should be 0 but it does not , now challange is how to syncronix\ze it using only SEMOPHORES to syncronize it , and get the output 0 all the time

Admistrator,in my office is very much willing to hack others system.I have Windows 2000 OS installed in my system.And I am sure that he does not know my login password so that he can hack my system through "Remote Desktop connection feature".Though some how he does.
Can u help giving ideas to protect my system.Atleast if I get a message when he tries to access my system will be appreciable.

You can disable remote desktop and terminal services and all these things that allow any one to use your pc and log to it ,by setting the Services you want only , and also from the Local Security Policy ,they are really good and helpful ,i have modified them in my own system and it is doing good till now

In general concept, administator is the person that have the complete right to perform any action in the system. Whether, he or she has the full right and permission to access the system and data, they must have an ethical to access each user privacy. User privacy should be access only if there is a time for investigation on an serious issue. If you are a general user in the network, you have no opportunity to prevent any sensitive information to your administrator. Discuss this issue in the meeting to find out the solution.

If the problem could not be solve, try to keep only data that relate to your work in the computer. Any personal data should be keep in the personal removable media (flash drive or external hard disk drive).
