I've got a 100L compressor in the tool cupboard - but it's remembering to do it regularly, and the hassle of unplugging everything and blowing it out. Should be easier now the PC is on the desk (behind the monitors) instead of underneath it.
I'll stick a reminder in Google to blow it out every couple of months, I think.

I remind myself so often to do it then get into something, and then something else and something else and by the time I unwind the stack its about 2ce a year...on a good year.
I'm not sure how many cookies it makes to be happy, but so far it's not 27.

Do you think this is something I should be doing to my PC? I mean the cleaning part.
When I open one that's being scrapped, to pull out a few useful components, I usually take note of the cobwebs. You didn't mention removing those . . . should I leave them intact? And for the compress air blower/canned air thing. Do you think it would be alright I just had someone with a dust allergy stand very close by when I open the case?

I take my CPU outside every 6 months and blow it out with a compressor. Canned air will take most loose dust out, but any buildup requires more oomph to dislodge.
I cleaned a CPU in my garage once and blew dust all over my car. Since then, I wait for a clear day.
Do not let fans run freely when blasting -- I found out the hard way you can break 'em. I push a bamboo skewer between the blades to keep it from turning and then blast away.
If you have a noisy fan? It may not be the bearings. Sometimes residue builds up on the fan blades and produces noise, including a reverberation. I use cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol to clean the blades. One pass to dissolve the gunk and remove most of it, and a second pass to remove the remainder.

Good news. You might try peeling the sticker back and adding a drop of oil to that fan. Worked in "the good old days".
Now what are you going to do with all that left over stuff from the desk?
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

So the article in question is Customizable WPF MessageBox[^].
One of my updates to this article involves adding the ability to display a clickable URL in a message box. In the sample app, I added a MessageBox that prompts the user to come back to CP and vote, and provides a URL that brings them back to the article link.
I don't know whether or not if it is having the desired effect, but since posting that update, I've gotten five votes on the article. The ratio is still trending downwards, but the trend line is a little less steep.
Maybe I need to revisit my Reputationator app[^]. Was the CP API web service ever made available?

I viewed your article but did not upvote it(vote on it at all) because I have not touched xaml since 2012, and I normally don't upvote articles just for the sake of upvoting them, especially if I have not read the article word for word.
I'm sure it is a great article, and for those still working with xaml and using message boxes, will find it extremely useful, for sure.

It's just not the ratio, I feel overall the voting has reduced now (compared to previous years)
Looking at your article, comparatively seems WPF still has some traction (apart from C++ articles) around here.

There is very little reason to use this app. The world ran fine (in fact, probably better) before all these things existed.

Tell that to the couple of billions people using it, that suddenly stopped using Emails and calling per phone.
I installed it first in 2016 because I had no other option if I wanted to keep in contact with many people.
For me it was really clear that all promises done by FB / MZ back then after buying whatsapp were only a matter of time to be broken. Now the time has come.
I will very probably let my account be blocked automatically, but I suppose 90% of the people won't do it. Many just because of laziness, many because "the others won't do it", many because "I have nothing to hide" (and don't understand all what happens in the background)...

That is a serious part of many business models - the momentum factor.
Once something's started up and moving along, a large fraction of those people never take the trouble to undo it. That's why all the free trial offers: you have to affirmatively stop or they start billing. ISP's and cable companies raise fees without a qualm because to react (change) would be a hassle (equipment return, getting used to new things, and "who has time").
It's a momentum. ALL of my email addresses, even for family, are "forwards". If I change I need tell no one - just change the target address. Similarly with whatever I can use. And I just dropped two financial groups (online banks, credit card of 23 years) and last year a brokerage - because they got stupid. It shocks them (customer service), in a way, that anyone will bother.

Amen to that. All of these social media-ish apps are desensitizing people to have even less face-to-face contact than they were already having. Couple that with the pandemic's physical distancing and face hiding, what will relationships look like in the future?
