so you want to know what exactly? You need to be a bit more specific. Post code you've written so far etc. What exactly do you mean "link to each other"?
Do you mean you have a map (i.e: of the US) and you want users to be able to click on different areas of it? If so, then you will probably want to use the <map> and <area> tags.
e.g:
<pre>
<img src="yourImage.jpg" width="480" height="467" border="0" usemap="#Map" alt="buttons" />
<map name="Map" id="Map">
<area shape="rect" coords="6,27,282,136" href="state1.php" alt="State1" />
<area shape="rect" coords="6,170,282,278" href="state2.php" alt="State2" />
</map>
</pre>

Neonlight,

Well, I'm not going to write it all for you. Do some research on the map and area tags (Google them). If my code is perfect you should have everything you need in my last post.

yah, have trace the map using dreamweaver map cutting, pls teach me the functionality.
neolight pls give your light to it.

For each sate trace its outline:
<area shape="poly" coords="288,94,353,129,366,100" href="#">
This is in the format:
<area shape="poly" coords="x,y,x,y,x,y" href="#">
Where each "x,y" is a point of your polygon hotspot.
If you are using dreamweaver, click the image and look for the "polygon hotspot tool" (bottom left).
You can make the hotpsot using that - then just change the hyperlinks
That's your lot. Google the rest. If you don't try and figure it out for yourself you won't remember it. But, if you still need help learning html I suggest visiting <a href="http://www.w3schools.com">http://www.w3schools.com</a>

My apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I searched, and could not find the reference i need. On the device in question there is a legacy NTFS partition, that i have my old VM stored on. The partition is mounted in fstab, but not unlocked. This is a slight annoyance once VMware Server 2.0 services start. The DataStore never scans the legacy partition properly, and the inventoried VM is inaccessible, making me remove and add the VM every time. Also crippling any possibility of me making the VM start on boot.
After stating the background, i was wondering if there is any way possible to create a script, which will run before the VMware services start, and will unlock the volume. I only recently started using any Linux OS's, and this is the first linux install i have used on an actual machine (all others were observed in VMware). An unlock command, and the proper method for implementing it at boot would be appreciated.
My apologies is this question is seen as irrelevant, or outside the boundaries of this forum. I simply couldn't think of anywhere better to seek assistance.
(OS:Ubuntu ... please don't poke fun... i really enjoy using Mint, but this seemed more suited to the device)

Have you tried using ntfs-3g ?

Thank you for the reply, but ntfs-3g is the driver type associated with it by default. The search for a resolution continues.

My pleasure, too bad it wasn't the solution you need.
Btw can you explain what is it you exactly mean with "locked" ? I guessed you mean "read only", but I might be wrong.

Yes, my apologies for not clarifying earlier. The volume is successfully mounted, and visible from Nautilus, however basic system processes do not read it properly until i browse it. In Nautilus it appears as a media device, and after browsing to it once it gains an eject symbol.
An example of processes not being able to read it properly would be the VMWare services. When i launch the VMware management utility (Web based since I am using VMWare Server 2.0, however in all seriousness on windows machines i preferred 1.0.9, I simply figured a change of OS might also insinuate a change in pace to a more progressive outlook.) and it scans the Datastore pointing to the legacy partition it returns the values and properties of the filesystem partition. That is until I have browsed it, and it appears unlocked. I tell the utility to rescan the Datastore, and it will finally return the proper information. Either way, though, the VM in the inventory reads null, after this process, and it requires me to remove it from the inventory and re-add it before it can be utilized.
For some reason i get the feeling that I'm possibly missing something simple... or blatantly obvious to the experienced Linux user. Again thank you for taking the time to analyze this issue.

Ok now I think (hope) I get it.
Your problem is your NTFS partition was "registered" in the system by Gnome's automatic mounting system. You can see it on your desktop, but it is NOT mounted! It gets automatically mounted when you first open it manually. This is achieved, for example, with the noauto option in fstab .
What you need is that your partition is automatically mounted at boot time. Edit your fstab and create or modify the line to do that. For example:
/dev/mypartition /my/mount/point ntfs-3g defaults 0 0
You might need to change the defaults option to suit your specific needs.
Post your fstab if you need more help with it.

That took care of it, thank you so much. *hug* You have no idea how much i owe you.

I am trying to make a PHP admin control panel, and have it set up, but I have 2 problems.
The first one is the control panel is not working. This is the code I am using:
The error I get is this:
Error: Duplicate entry '0' for key 1
How should I fix this? I have the entry form in the right way, so it's not that, and I know I have the login details right.
My second problem is that I can't select the user that I would like to edit. How could I fix that? The table with the usernames and passwords is called users, and I have the login script setup so you don't need to worry about that. Thanks!
EDIT!:
This script actually creates users, not edits them. How would I fix that?

I think the problem is you are trying to create the same row in the table twice.
Create an "id" field set to auto_increment as your primary key. Then you can pass it a NULL value.
Also, I'm not sure about your post code in the SQL. Try:
$password = $_POST['password'];
$userlevel = $_POST['userlevel'];
$sql="INSERT INTO users (id, password, userlevel)
VALUES
(NULL, '$password','$userlevel')";

Hi neex1223,
With regard to the second problem, you need to use the MySQL set command. Something along the lines of (not syntatically correct) where id = thisId, set password = new password.
I emphasise - that's not MySQL code, but it's the right structure.

either use javascript & php and the web browser - or you'll have to get them to install something and use java/C# etc to interact with the desktop.
Or you could just send them an email. easier. more user (machine) friendly.

am doing it for some company and one of the requirements is produce the alert(so i guess i just have to do it),
1.for the use of javascript, php and the web browser how do i do this?
2.for the use of java/c# you sed i will have to get them install something, which is?
thanx a lot for the reply

1.
- use php to store to the oracle db.
- use ajax (google "jquery") to display a pop up in the browser or
2.
Depends what you make.
If you make a java program then they will need to install it plus the java runtime (JRE).
If I was in your position I would build the pages & db for adding questions and responses with a boolean "answered" - default to "0".
And then use java to test ask the database at intervals for that user's questions if "answered = 1". if it returns any rows the display a popup for that item using the system tray (if this is for windows environment).

"am doing it for some company and one of the requirements is produce the alert(so i guess i just have to do it),"
- Suggest the email. Lusers never know what they want if they come out with stupid like that. It's better than a popup box.
