Is that a database on your LAN, or is it located somewhere else? (e.g., a database from a webhosting company?)

Database is on another machine that is not in my LAN.

Then chances are that there's a firewall. Second thing to check would be if MySQL accepts remote connections - those are disabled by default[^], for security reasons.

This sort of language is not acceptable here, if you cannot behave like an adult you should find an alternative playground.

There are multiple ways that you can solve this. May I suggest writing a console-application that makes a SqlConnection to verify the status? It would be quite trivial to send an email from C#, and you can launch the application using Windows' task-scheduler.

We're not being paid to answer you, and these forums are not a "company" that exists to serve others. This is a meeting-space where all kinds of people can trade idea's. Consider it a public market

That's probably not an i386-based device. Have you checked whether it is compiled against the correct architecture?

Here's a sweet alternative; you can download http://code.google.com/p/csharp-sqlite/[^] code, and include them directly in your project

Hi all
i have sql 2005 installed on my m/c.
i want to import txt file which just exported from SQL 2000.
i am using Import/Export wizard but problem is while importing it will automatically change column size and it's datatype.
means it varchar to nVarchar
size 20 to 2000
then i have to go in advanced import option and correct datatype and size for all columns
why this happens ??? where i am wrong ???
is there any setting ???
thanks in advance

Create the table first with the correct sizes, then import the text file into your table.

Hi,
I am trying to convert a table result to a xml. For example, I have a result (Figure 1) and I want to make an xml out of it (Figure 2).
I have tried the FOR XML RAW and FOR XML AUTO but this does not seem to give me the tree structure. Any ideas?
Figure 1:
Parent Id Name
-----------------------
0 1 Root
0 2 Root 2
1 3 Child 1
1 4 Child 2
3 5 Child 3
4 6 Child 4
9 7 Child 5
Figure 2:
<NodeCollection>
<Node rId=1 Parent=0 Name='Root'>
<Node rId=3 Parent=1 Name='Child 1'>
<Node rId=5 Parent=3 Name='Child 3' />
</Node>
<Node rId=4 Parent=1 Name='Child 2'>
<Node rId=6 Parent=4 Name='Child 4' />
</Node>
</Node>
<Node rId=2 Parent=0 Name='Root 2' />
<Node rId=7 Parent=9 Name='Child 5' />
</NodeCollection>
