Hello
Why do you declare it as unsafe? I belive your declaration should be this
[DllImport("bb.dll", CharSet=CharSet.Auto)]
[return: MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.SysUInt)]
public static extern uint bbox_table_open(StringBuilder archive_path);
Try it! Otherwise you'd have to make an unsafe bloock in your code and create tha char* inside it.

Now is good. Now it compiles and function now work.
Unsafe was becouse in prototype function (parameter) was char *, but now it makes sense.
Thank you.

Hi. Does anyone know how to access the Windows system color by code? (The one set in the control panel)
[edit: ...Ok. I think it's SystemColors.AppWorkspace; But the MSDN was very, very ambiguous in their description. Sorry for wasting anyone's time]

The SystemColors class ?

Sorry that my question was kind of non-descript. I'm trying to get access to the background color of an MDI parent. In the MSDN documentation for MDI, it states "be aware that the edge of the MDI parent form will pick up the system color (set in the Windows System control panel), rather than the back color you set using the Control.BackColor property." I want to know where Visual Studio gets access to this color and how I pick it.

Hi,
I have a process that batch prints reports to the default printer on a client
machine.
However some reports are longer than others so it would be useful to know
when the printing of each reports is complete (at least in the eyes of the driver/spooler...)
Is there a way using C# where I can check the state of the current job therefore
delaying the printing of the next item?
It would also help with delaying printing when the printer has run out of paper etc...
Thanks in advance.

I have the need to output text to a file in which when its printed on a pre-printed form, the values in the outputted text file will match up with the boxes on the form. Like an automated typewriter of sorts. I'm doing this so far with the System.IO namespace. The issue i'm having is the space between carrage returns. I'm using a char[] and creating 5000 ' ' char in it and ever 80 chars i'm putting a '\n' char. Then using that to insert at a specific point in that char[] so when it prints its on the specified line and distance from L to R. But on a carrage return, there is a default gap, that gap is throwing off some of the lines. Does anyone know how to correct this, or have a better way of achieving this?
Think of it as a Doctor form that is preprinted blank... and I need to access data from a database and write it to a text file in such a way that when the text file is printed on this preprinted template... the outcome is matched up like you did it on a type writer. Make sense?
Thanks in Advance,
Scott

If you are dynamically creating the control in your code, please check what thread that code is executing on. If it is not executing on the main thread of the application you might get these types of errors. Try doing the adding within a BeginInvoke or Invoke. That might resolve the issue.

Hello eveyone,
I wonder if I can make a webservice work via a desktop application in which this webservice manipulates a web application (for example change a label) ?
Lets me explain in detail. I want to click a button on my destop application (which is currently viewing a web application) and this will make a webservice start to work. This webservice -then- will change a label on the web applications.
Thanks for your helps and best regards.

Hi
I have a problem. I need your help.
In my Program, have file: app.Config
In file app.Config, I wrote.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="strConn" value="Data source = (local);Integrated Security =SSPI;Initial Catalog = Northwind">
</add>
</appSettings>
</configuration>
<
Now, I want change content in "value". New value put in from textbox.after it will update to file app.Config
|
|
|
|
|
The built in code doesn't allow this. You'd be better to move the values you want to be able to write to your own config file, although I believe you can open app.config with an XmlDocument and treat it as normal XML for the purposes of editing/writing.

I have this line of code in a partially trusted assembly:
List<string> files = UpdateController.GetUpdateContents(updateFile);
It generates a SecurityException with the message "That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.". However, I do have the following attribute in the UpdateController assembly, as follows:
[assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers]
Any ideas why this attribute is seemingly ignored?
|
|
|
|
|
I would delete my previous post if I didn't think this follow up may help some people. It was an easy mistake for me to have not checked the UpdateController assembly references as well. One of the referenced projects didn't allow partially trusted callers.
Always remember to check the whole chain.
