If you don't want to use postbacks and the asp.net page lifecycle then you should use ajax instead and maybe not use any server controls at all, just use normal instead of asp:DropDown etc, however that bit is optional.

i want to develop a gym management system using asp.net. what would be the best approach and where can i find pieces of codes. help

vijay1457 wrote: what would be the best approach Creating the design of the system: what sort of data do you need to store, how will you access that data, how will information be presented to the user, etc. The biggest mistake you can make with any project is to start coding before you have a well documented set of requirements. Once you do have all those pieces you can start looking at which package or framework is the best one for you.

Yes, there are several ways, but it is hard to advise to you without proper details...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

First You need FileUpload control and a button with Upload Text
Then Create A folder in your project with name Data or images
and try This code behind in The click-event of The button
if (fileupload1.hasfile)
{
string filename = FileUpload1.FileName;
fileupload1.postedfile.saveas(Server.MapPath("~/Data/" + filename));
// Now The image is in your project if you need to display it you can use the following code
FileInfo fileinfo = new FileInfo(filename);
img.ImageUrl = "~/Data/" + fileinfo.Name;
}

I'm puzzled on why my database table is not being created.
Is it because you have to start with no database first, for the model code to run?
This is my first time adding a form view, model and controller, I guess I missed something, or don't fully understand how MVC works.
This is the model that I wrote.
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations;
using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.Schema;
using System.Data.Entity;
using System.Data.Entity.ModelConfiguration.Conventions;
using System.Globalization;
using System.Web.Security;
using redCopper.App_Code;
namespace redCopper.Models
{
public class ContactContext : DbContext
{
public ContactContext()
: base("DefaultConnection")
{
Database.SetInitializer<ContactContext>(new CreateDatabaseIfNotExists<ContactContext>());
}
public DbSet<UserProfile> ContactProfiles { get; set; }
protected override void OnModelCreating(DbModelBuilder modelBuilder)
{
base.OnModelCreating(modelBuilder);
modelBuilder.Conventions.Remove<PluralizingTableNameConvention>();
}
}
[Table("CRM_MESSAGES")]
public class ContactProfile
{
[Key]
[DatabaseGeneratedAttribute(DatabaseGeneratedOption.Identity)]
public int ID { get; set; }
public string Name { get; set; }
public string Subject { get; set; }
public string CompanyName { get; set; }
public string EmailAddress { get; set; }
public string Query { get; set; }
public DateTime Date { get; set; }
public bool MailingList { get; set; }
}
public class ContactModel
{
[Required]
[Display(Name = "Name")]
public string Name { get; set; }
[Display(Name = "Company Name")]
public string CompanyName { get; set; }
[Required]
[Display(Name = "Email Address")]
[EmailAddress(ErrorMessage = "Invalid Email Address")]
public string EmailAddress { get; set; }
[Required]
[Display(Name = "Message or Comment")]
public string Query { get; set; }
[Display(Name = "Signup for our mailing list")]
public bool MailingList { get; set; }
}
public class ContactInitializer : CreateDatabaseIfNotExists<ContactContext>
{
protected override void Seed(ContactContext context)
{
base.Seed(context);
}
}
}

I figured out that since I'm not using Entity Framework, my database tables won't be created automatically.
So I wrote a sort of an extender class that creates the tables, and called it in Global, so when the app starts, it will run the code.
I would have to delete the entire database and test it again to really confirm this.
The database does get created automatically, and the tables do if I add a new table.
