Are you sure about what you asking?
The subject says "SQL Server 2005 with VS 2008", the content says "SQL Server 2008".

I am trying to trigger an event in the textbox changed event, but the system is giving an error, "Could not find an event named 'UserName_Changed' on associated control 'UserNameTextBox' for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'UpdatePanel1'.
Following is my html code:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:TextBox ID="UserNameTextBox" CssClass="PCMSStandardTextbox" OnTextChanged="UserName_Changed"
runat="server" MaxLength="50"></asp:TextBox>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="UserNameTextBox" EventName="UserName_Changed" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
<asp:UpdateProgress ID="UpdateProgress1" runat="server">
<ProgressTemplate>
<span class="ProgressBar">
Checking for Username availability...</span></ProgressTemplate></asp:UpdateProgress></td>
in aspx.cs:
protected void UserName_Changed(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string strUserName = UserNameTextBox.Text.Trim();
List<string> UserNames = u.GetUserLogin();
}
I tried to put AutoPostBack=true property of the textbox. But doesn't make any difference. Am I doing something wrong here?
Can anybody please provide any help on this? Thanks in advance.

UserName_Changed is the name of the handler. The name of the event is OnTextChanged.
|
|
|
|
|
on the EventName property for the AsyncPostBackTrigger leave out the prefix for the event name i.e: OnTextChanged becomes TextChanged; look in your properties window for the event names required.
|
|
|
|
|
U need to provide the EventName and not the MethodName that invokes the event.
So in your case, the following line seems to be the solution.
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="UserNameTextBox" EventName="TextChanged" >

Hello
This is my first message posted on this site. I used it alot before but didn't sign in until now.
I have to make a website in ASP.NET(VB.net) for school so that I can log all users that go to a blocked site (e.g. www.nl.netlog.be). Now it just redirects you to www.google.be but we have to make our own site to put on the intranet. It needs to get user information like the username and save it. If he comes on the website for like 3 times I want to give him a warning. It's supposed to be stored for a week (the amount of times the specific user was on the website). The users can log in on different computers.
How should I start with this? Or do you guys have any tips?
Thanks

ASP.NET can't monitor the sites which user is visiting. Your question is not clear. Please explain in details what you are trying to achieve.

Well, I don't have to monitor the pages wich the user want to visit, I just need to monitor the names of the persons who come on THIS page that I have to create. Only people who go to sites that are blocked in the network end up on THIS site.
I hope this clears things up

Well, I assume you want to get the windows login id which the user is using. Right? Read about this[^]

Thank you for the link, that will come in very handy. But the hardest part for me is how do I save the information of the amount of times the user came on the page in 1 week?

I don't think so. If you have deployed your application in IIS and It is accessible from you system by http://yourip/yoursite then Its fine.

I think there may be some problem with your LAN. What problem are you getting while access that url. Did you ping that IP? Is it accessible?

What is the OS of your machine? If it is XP, by default the firewall in XP restricts the ports (80) accessed from outside. Add an exception in the Firewall or turn off the firewall and try.

Hi,
I have a web application in which im trying to access the local machine sybase database...it works fine in my machine...but when i deployed it using MSI ...ie when i installed that MSI in other machine and there im not able to access the database ie when i run my application the page which contains database connection throws an Error like
System.componentModel.Win32Exception:Access denied at iAnywhere.Data.SQLAnywhere.SAConnection.Open....

Hi,
I'm not sure but as I can remember you have to install the Sybase ADO.NET provider on that machine.

You should quote the exact error message, not something similar to the error message.
The exception message suggests that it cannot connect to the database as it is not authorised to do so. Do you require to permit connections from remote machines?

I have loginpage and in the cs of that page and in login button click i wrote like this....(this is working fine in my system but when i made MSI package and installled in other system(Windows Xp pro IIS 5.1 the error occurs...)
string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["connectionString"].ConnectionString;
SAConnection myConnection = new SAConnection(connectionString);
myConnection.Open();
