I try to keep it neat, but I still go for the old (REALLY old) socks and sandals stereotype.
Money makes the world go round ... but documentation moves the money.

Actually, a COVID-19 mask is required, but there is no dress code and coworkers wear everything from bare feet to business casual. One lady has tight black jeans and a tight black sweater. Most guys are in graphic t-shirts and jeans/sweats.

T-shirt, sweats or shorts depending on the temperature, no shoes. We're still working from home whenever possible. We don't use video conferencing to share our faces, just to share our desktops occasionally.
I go into the office to bang on actual equipment once or twice a month. I squeeze my pandemic pulchritude (== fat gut) into jeans and a polo shirt, which is our definition of business casual.

My group doesn't do video meetings, audio only.
On the plus side, the camera and microphone on my work laptop don't work, although the laptop works fine otherwise. I use my own headset (low-end gaming type headset) and no one has sprung for an external camera (and I'm not asking!). If required to do video, I can't.
The dress code at work is "wear clothes" and generally this is adhered to, although a few folks stretch the boundaries. I wear Dockers & Izod (or equivalent thereof) as it's what I've worn for the last 20+ years. The presentation is casual and neat, and it doesn't usually look like I'm trying to out-dress anyone (with the exception of the folks that stress the boundaries of the current dress code).
If conditions allow and require a video meeting, I dress like I dress for work. It takes 2 minutes to replace t-shirt & sweat pants/shorts with Dockers & Izod.

I'm not used to business dress and it shows, isntead of looking like a bum who stole some clothes I just go with cargo jeans (same material as cargo pants but no knee pockets), shirt and pullover. This has three distinct advantages:
1) I am never dressed better than my bosses;
2) I still have the standard look of a consultant (also known as camouflage, useful when projects go awry and customers seek targets);
3) I still look like someone who actually does work and is not a salesman, yes-man or fraud.
Bonus: it's cheaper.

Usually, it's Levi's blue jeans and a tee-shirt. By the time I sit down at the computer, I have completed the morning chores, including checking and watering the livestock, gathered eggs for breakfast, and a dozen other things. I clean up, kick off my boots, eat breakfast and then grab another cup of coffee ![Java | [Coffee]](https://codeproject.global.ssl.fastly.net/script/Forums/Images/coffee.gif) and start on my programming projects and other computer-centric activities required  to run a modern ranch.
We mostly raise goats. They are not too much work to care for. This leaves us with more free time than if we raised cattle, sheep or pigs. Time for personal grooming is always in short supply. My son and I and the ranch hand all sport unruly beards. As for haircuts for us, that requires going into town and wasting several hours. We try minimizing that and only go into town three or four times each month, mostly for shopping. The ranch hand goes into town more often as his wife has medical issues that limit her activities, including driving.
I have been raising goats so long, that some people say I look like an old goat. Children think I look like Santa Claus, especially between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I'm generally not invited to meetings - I ask too many questions that, when it comes down to it, are basically WTF are you thinking?
However, this blissful state is to be interrupted in about two day. One of the "directors of" is calling one, mandatory, and I'm invited. Seems like some sort of reorganization. i'm not sure, video or phone in. Actually - this "director of" isn't even in my hierarchy. Maybe his demands don't count?
Who knows - maybe it's all my fault. I've pushed his buttons, lately, because I want him to get off his lazy ass and do something. Maybe, instead, he's going to stir things up and pretend he's gotten somersetting done in the last year or so. He almost invariably dresses in 3-piece suits.
As for how I'll dress - well, I think they'd be better off worrying what room I'm in at the time and if the chair I'm using has a large hole in the middle.

Same here most days. Although I do feel better once I'm out of my pjs. But I have reasons for staying in them for the morning as I sometimes workout at lunch time and then have a shower + change into non pjs.

But also the face - should be shaven, or with well-trimmed beard, and neat and combed hair on the head. No shabby looks.
If someone uploads the video onto Youtube, nobody should ask "Who is that shabby-looking person?"

It's all about respect - your clothes affect how others perceive your opinion of them: if you are "suited and booted" then you are showing respect for them, if you are in ripped jeans and a rude T shirt you clearly don't care about them and their opinions.
Clothes also affect how you think: dress like a slob and you think like a slob.
Yes, you have to be comfortable - but that doesn't mean you can't be "ready for a zoom / teams meeting" with a new client. And what you wear affects people's initial impression of you.
They say that a yes / no decision is made in the first few seconds of an interview, and that's certainly true for a "no" - look scruffy and there is a damn good chance the decision has been made before you sit down! That's also true for meetings - if you want people to trust / respect you, then you need to not give them "red flags" right at the start.
So I always wear clean jeans, a clean white, ironed shirt, no damned tie, and sometimes a jumper if it's cold. If I go to a customer site (and I don't know them and their dress code pretty well) then I drag on a suit and tie.
