I am a huge fan since first movie 1977 seen in drive-in.
Still am at my age.
Best: The Empire Strikes Back
Worst: The Phantom Menace

Don't like it.
Seen (as a child) one or two of the first but never liked that universe.
Then, one day I saw this "newer" movie with that crazy alien with that mad grammar ... chacha-bings or so? don't know... Stopped half way and never watched it to the end.
Sorry... no way.
Same problem I had with "Avatar" - tried 4 times... couldn't stand it to the end. Never seen more than the first ~30-45 minutes... then either fell asleep or left/turned off.
Only movie in my life where I left the cinema before the movie ended. Had a good time in the cocktail bar outside until my friends came out when the movie was over. So we all had fun that evening

Yes, likewise. Not sure how I managed to avoid the original Star Wars films - it wasn't deliberate. I keep meaning to watch them but never seem to get round to it. That said, I haven't seen the Star Trek prequels either.

I thought it's only me who hasn't seen any of them. But it looks like there are few people here like me.

I'm not into Star Wars. I don't do Star Trek, either. Nor sci-fi.

In the latest Star Trek series, Jean-Luc Picard admits to not being into Sci-Fi either.

He's a fictional character.

though does it count as a real Star Wars movie. Not sure I liked IX so much, a bit too much of that telepathic fighting nonsense.

Star Wars.
There is only one and it was released in 1977.

To me Rogue One is the most 'grown up' of the bunch. It feels the most like a serious sci-fi movie. Of the main set, episode 3 is also more serious. The others of the original six are just aiming a bit too low in the age demographic for my tastes, though I still watch them from time to time.
Leaving aside a few silly bits like "Leia's Body in Space on Ice", I actually like The Last Jedi. In particular those final scenes between Kylo and Luke are visually pretty epic.

I just realized this is the original movie. Never heard that before.
It all went downhill about the time McDonald's started selling drinks in SW cups before the movie was even out. When I first encountered the Jar Jar Binx character I almost puked. It was obvious this cuteness was added to appeal to the kiddies and no other reason. It could have been a great series but they needed return on investment.

Seriously, Star Wars has always been about selling merchandise since its very beginning. There were plenty of SW-related toys already back in 77.

True. I guess it just didn't feel so commercialized at the beginning.

...could it be because you were a kid yourself back then, and thus not as aware of the ulterior motive?
Or if not a kid, then at least 40+ years younger...

Yeah, I was 16 and working as an usher at the movie theater. We sold out 700+ seats in the big theater for Star Wars for quite a while. I was not as aware of many ulterior motives then. Those of women especially.

You weren't aware of women's ulterior motives at 16?

Heck no, I'm still figuring them out.

Well...anyone who pretends to have them completely figured out is lying.

But I feel, the survey is not relevant in coding related site.
Which website is good place to discuss about the movies? CodeProject? definitely not.
May be a little fun is also good.
