Closest answer was designing the apis.
Yes that's the creative part, the part where you actually see (on paper) how it will look like from a coder's perspective.
That is really the most joyful part.
Second best is, when "everything is finished" and you start the finetuning, a bit polishing here, a new setting there, change a default, things like that... All that what's needed to make it feel right.
