...and saw shiny new major features:
try-catch-throw - sounds like usual exceptions in most languages
#available directive - sounds like #ifdef in C languages
- protocol extensions - sounds like extension methods in C#
- updated SDK - sounds like API was terrible and now it's less so
It'll also be open-source with permissive license "later".
I come to conclusion this is totally not a language I'm interested in. If Apple developers consider Swift superior to what they had used previously, I don't envy them.

I'm more into learning native mobile development through multi-platform frameworks like Xamarin, or soon to be like React Native.
Learning this Swift thing doesn't make any sense to me.

Perhaps, I am an Android geek and a Microsoft Windows Phone fan, but that does't mean I can't step into Apple world! First step would be hard, time taking, but... I would make it through.
I am really looking forward to create iOS applications and Swift is the right language for me; I never loved Objective-C language. Swift would be a good fit for me, but my love still belongs to .NET framework and C# language.

You can make iOS apps with C# or Oxygene using Remobject's compilers. (Or Swift which they have a beta of as well, I think it is still beta anyway)

I know, I have used Xamarin. But that doesn't prevent me from using Swift.

It is too swift for me...
A language that changes so severe in 9 months only to jump a major version number...I'm afraid that what I will write in version 2.0 will be obsolete and have to be rewritten in version 3.0 (march 2016)...

Last I was in the same room with an Apple product was like 25 years ago - a Mac of my brother (one of those with the standing monitor, that used by designers as an easy emulation of paper sheets...)

Do you remember the quick changes between .NET 1.0, 1.1, 2.0?
Swift is a very young language - I quite like it (certainly a step forward from ObjC) but there are some gaps in it that need to be patched up (although there is usually some kind of workaround). That won't happen if they sit still though.
How do you know so much about swallows? Well, you have to know these things when you're a king, you know.
