It is just basic sanity check.
No weekends or that would be 7 weeks plus by itself, not only public holidays because really, is there a country with more than say...30 days of holidays?
I get 28 days, plus sick days which must be doctor certified up to max 42 days inlcuding weekends (6 full weeks) plus whatever state terms as public holidays (those are Independance day, Constituion day, Christmass, Easter and several others (about week total) - no distinction between vacation and personal days.
I plan on living forever. Or die trying.

1) I wonder how serious people take these surveys.
2) the surveys are always very much biased since only a certain kind of person respond and since the probe set is biased already, so, go to 1).
3) as non-native English, the question is clear without doubt. It's not always good to think too much about questions, especially from such surveys, go to 1)
4) for nit-pickers: if in doubt, consider trying to apply "common sense", go to 1)

In the UK, if working full time, then by law, all employees get 20 days a year, plus 8 bank holidays.
Where I currently work, I get the 20 + 8 - the minimum. I start a new job in two weeks and I'll get 25 + 8. I also have the option to "buy" and "sell" additional holiday days.

There should be some distinction.
like the weekend off day(s) are to be considered.
We have:
14 earned leaves (granted after completing a year of working; 1 per 15 present days of the previous year)
10 casual leaves (granted 2.5 every quarter).
8-10 holidays selected from the gazetted holidays.
and Sundays off(~52).
in addition to above we have 2 restricted holidays which may be selected according to some criteria and vary every year.
We have saturdays working...
So we have in all 34-36 days off excluding sundays.

Depends...
It is tired to work at home, there are not divisions between when you work and when you are at home. Finally you end working more from home, with no schedule no holidays no time to rest. Customers get use to call every time, with the certainty find you at your home.
And you become boring to see the same all the time everyday; not further human contact than neighbors, no changes in the horizon more that the mere entropy rusting every corner you might see...
If you employee yourself, I suggest to hire a cowork or an office

Agree with what you said. But hiring an office might be not really necessary. When I am working offline, I go to the bibliotheque of the city and get a desk at the end of the room.
I can not really concentrate at home and I want to separate the feelings, so when I come home I can say... "ok, done for today. Tomorrow will be another day"

It's not black nor white. Depends on your "mode of operation". If you have a home-office, there is nothing against turning off the business mobile phone and the computer while you are "off-duty". If you have customers not respecting your office-hours, you have to either explicitly block the interruption of private life or make a service contract so that you get at least paid for your extra hours.
With regards of social contact: I always go at least once a week to my customers (e.g. work on-site) to get the informal contact to the "co-workers". That's a "must" on my side, even it involves some travelling. It's worth the effort!
Finally: "self-employed = none" is sick - or one turns sick sooner or later...

5 weeks when I wish and 1 week mandatory set during Passover...
I also have 45 days of 'sickness' that I can use as holidays if I need, but for those days I get only 75% payment...

For Purim there is a law - you can choose which day, it's not in the 5 week...

I'm in a contract-to-hire role right now, so until I'm converted in February '15 I don't get paid holidays.

You need to define what you mean by "holiday". Different parts of the world call it different things. We get eight paid public holidays, then depending on length of service we get vacation, which I believe is what you are asking about. Currently I get three weeks vacation, three days of sick leave, and two personal days.
Because the company is setup mainly to employ hourly workers the salaried staff have some rules that I did not have to work with at other places.

I currently get 25 days of paid leave (combined vacation/sick/personal time), 10 paid holidays (loosely aligned with the federal list; but swapping Columbus Day and MLKJr day for Black Friday and xMas eve).
