Seriously there's no need for this message. Atleast please don't discourage the authors. I'm here for around 4 years but still didn't submit an article. Writing article isn't a simple job IMO.
Better you suggest them if there's anything(Yeah, I read comments there-bottom of that article), so that they could update article with more details.

My message is not to discourage authors, but to compare the results from this month and the month before. Last month, the most useless article won, and I find that way more discouraging. I want interesting articles on complex subjects get more attention, but way too often, the simpler the article, the more praise (in the form of votes, comments, winning competitions etc.) you get.
I'm not saying that simple articles shouldn't be written, but sometimes the competition just doesn't seem fair, especially if an article isn't merely trivial, but wrong and/or misleading on top of that.

I got your point, that's why the admin team put the following message below to that list of articles in this page. They're doing some internal audits before the announcement.

Last month these "internal audits" resulted in the most useless article winning not only C# competition, but overall competition too, even though it wasn't the first during voting. Auditing is there to avoid cheating, not to make competition between simple and complex articles more fair.

Actually Internal audits are for mainly avoid the vote abuse(like sock puppets), FYI already I have seen that they filtered/kicked some articles from contests in past(Some articles didn't win though those received massive votes-using sock puppets). Besides Admins have lot of other tasks to do(IIRC during that time only the 10 million members celebration moment). So when Admins busy they left everything to us(members).
And I saw those contest & other things(Paulo's messages too) & don't know what to say. Hope it won't happen again.

In fact, I already said that I think that the competition should have a category for basic articles and advanced ones. Many times I think the "useless" articles get more votes simply because they are easier to understand... even if they aren't really going to help a developer develop better or more interesting applications.

One more? or One more for each category? If it's first option then possible(only less) but second option is impossible. Because already they're running seven competition(s) on every month. So It's upto them.

Well... in fact I think they should review the categories... I think that actually there are too many categories. In some cases, the Web or VB.NET categories have almost no articles (I saw a competition with only 2 articles).
I really believe that in some cases the those 3 categories should be merged as a .NET competition... so the basic advanced categories will only be important if there are articles to fill such categories.

Database category has been created recently I think.

Yep, I have seen competitions with only 3 articles rarely.

You could ask the admins regarding this. They always open to reasonable suggestions.

I'm agree with Paulo. We can choose skill level (beginner, Intermediate or advanced) during article submission, so why the same level is not used during competition, for example as a vote weight. And yes it's more difficult to compare articles, but more honestly. I'm really disappoint, that all moderators do nothing for fix this issue

Already admins implemented that option using Tags. When you submit article, you could select the Target audience Tags. Based on that with article ratings & votes(not sure what more), admins push the Top 10 articles to competitions.

Actually they're not working here, they spends only free time here to help others. They prefer to hangout with forums & Q/A section. It's upto them.
But FYI herebefore they have moderated many articles including
- Spams
- Abusive things
- Plagiarized things
- Changed Short article to Tip/Trick
So if you feel something is wrong then you could ask the admins always for clarifications.
